Visits to Mount Kailash, a holy site for Hindus in China-occupied Tibet, will begin on October 1. Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam (KMVN) in Uttarakhand has made an official announcement. Devotees will be given darshan of Mount Kailas from the view point built at Old Lipulekh Pass in Pithoragarh district. Till now, Kailasayatra was held through Nepal, Sikkim and Uttarakhand, but since the Corona period, China has closed the road, so the journey was stopped.
KMVN TDO Lalit Tiwari told Bhaskar that only devotees between 22 and 55 years of age can go on the yatra. For this per person Rs. 80 thousand rent has been fixed. Earlier Rs 75 thousand was proposed but the rent has been increased as the cost increases. The package includes helicopter-jeep hire, accommodation-food expenses. Yatra booking will start from Friday on the KMVN website. The journey will last for four days.
On the first day, 15 pilgrims will be taken to Gunji village, 70 km from Pithoragarh, in an army helicopter. Overnight stay will be here. 30 km away from Gunji village will take Adi Kailas mountain. From here we will come back to Gunji village and stay overnight. On the third day, Om Parvat will be seen first in private vehicles. From there, the army will take its vehicles to Kailas View Point, from where Mount Kailas can be seen in front. On the fourth day we will have to come back from Gunji to Pithoragarh. Every devotee will undergo a medical check-up before the journey.
