J&K Elections- Mehbooba Mufti Will Not Contest Assembly Elections: Second List of 17 PDP Candidates Announced, Daughter Iltija Mufti's Name in First List

Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party has announced the second list of candidates for 17 seats. Earlier on August 22, the list of 8 candidates was released. Party chief Mehbooba Mufti's daughter Iltija was also named in it. Shortly after the release of the second list, Mehbooba announced that she would not contest the assembly elections. Mehbooba contested from Anantnag in this year's Lok Sabha elections, but faced defeat. After this, 55 candidates have filed in Pulwama district, 41 in Doda district, 32 in Kishtwar, 28 in Shopian, 28 in Kulgam, while 23 candidates have filed in Ramban. More than 23.27 lakh voters will vote in the first phase of the election. There are 11.76 lakh male voters and 11.51 lakh female voters, along with 60 third gender voters. Voting for 90 seats in Jammu and Kashmir will be held in three phases between September 18 and October 1. The result will be out on 4 October 2024. The majority figure to form the government is 46. A total of 45 candidates are in the fray. The party announced the list of 44 names on August 26 at 10 am. The list was withdrawn when there was opposition.
