A massive fire broke out in the Special New Born Care Unit (SNCU) at the Maharani Laxmibai Government Medical College in Jhansi on Friday night. 10 children died in this accident. Postmortem of 7 children was done on Saturday evening by a panel of 2-2 doctors.
All suffered more than 70 percent burns. Died due to burns. DNA samples have also been taken from each. The bodies of the 3 children could not be identified, so a post-mortem will be conducted after 72 hours.
After the postmortem, the bodies of the 7 newborns were handed over to their families. 7 out of 8 children missing since 20 hours have been found. Only 1 child not found yet. Jhansi district administration has released photos of dead bodies of 10 children. He said – the talk of more deaths is wrong.

How did the accident happen? The fire broke out due to sparking in the oxygen concentrator at around 10.30 pm on Friday, followed by an explosion. The fire had spread to the entire ward. The ward boy used a fire extinguisher to put out the fire, but it had expired 4 years ago, so it didn't work.
As soon as the information was received, 6 vehicles of the fire brigade arrived. The window was broken and water was splashed. The army was called as the fire started on sight. The fire was brought under control in about 2 hours. 39 children were taken out safely by breaking the window of the ward.
