Jhansi fire: doctors rushed to 3-3 mutilated newborns: mothers screamed in tears – hi my baby, let me see his face

Doctors were struggling to save the children. One by one their bodies were taken out. All newborn babies admitted in the ward were rescued.

The doctor had three newborns in his arms We reached the SNCU ward, two small fire brigade vehicles were standing at the gate. Dial-112 and police force were deployed. As soon as we reached the herd, we were shocked to see two doctors. A doctor had a burnt newborn in his arms. Another doctor had three newborn babies in his arms, who were completely burned.

When the doctors who were going ahead looked back, both the doctors came running. From behind came a voice – Hey Ram-Ram. All got burnt…we also ran after them…went for about 200 meters. Nurses and family members were running after the doctors. A person present asked what happened. He said- the children were burnt.

People rushed in with doctors and nurses. Children were screaming that they were burnt.

Rescue was being done from the window of the ward We proceeded towards SNCU, from where these people were coming. There was smoke everywhere, the stench of burning drugs and electronics. There was no light, it was dark. When we got closer, we saw that some people were going inside the ward through the window with torches. People present there said that so far 8 children have been found burnt.

Santara Devi said – I found someone's daughter, Not my grandson We immediately reached the gallery to go inside the hospital. 50-55 years old Santara Devi was running with a baby girl. On asking he said – My child is not found. Found someone's daughter. He too will die, but I will save him.

We went to get medicine, when we returned, everyone started saying – there is a fire, there is a fire. We have not found my son. All started running away with their children. Entry was not allowed.

SNCU ward burnt to ashes We returned to the ward. The fire was out, the noise was coming…there was no child inside now. Everyone has been kicked out. Later a fire brigade man said – Look, tell me if there is smoke anywhere, a voice came from inside – there is nothing now. After this gradually this place became vacant. We moved closer. The ward was completely burnt. The machines in which the children were kept were burnt.

The woman fainted while crying, the husband said – the doctor is negligent Pregnant Neelu's husband Kuldeep said- Neelu was weak, the son could not breathe properly. So the son was kept in the infant ward. Neelu repeatedly asked her husband to bring her son.

Kuldeep said- We are residents of Mahoba. Here is Neelu's maternal uncle's house. The delivery took place on November 9. When the baby is born prematurely, the problems are compounded. But now an unfortunate incident has happened. My son is not being found due to negligence of doctors. They didn't let anyone in. All were out.

The woman's mother-in-law fainted on the road After consoling Neelu and Kuldeep, we had gone some distance when a woman's mother-in-law fainted on the road. His family members rushed to pick him up.

DM sir came, got the answer – 10 children died All this happened in just half an hour. After this a voice came – DM sir has come. The policemen started moving towards the gate. We also went in that direction. DM Avinash Kumar spoke to the hospital staff. After this he met the media.

DM Avinash Kumar said – There are two wards for children here. One unit is indoor, the other is outdoor. Children with severe conditions are kept in inner wards. Many children have been rescued safely. Critically injured children are being treated. So far 10 children have died.

DM said- the incident took place between 10.30 to 10.45. An investigation team has been constituted. which will give its report. Injured children are being monitored.

Soon after the DM left, Congress leaders arrived, who were seen talking about helping people. So far we have not confirmed how many children have been admitted in the ward. We also met the medical staff to answer this question. But, he refused to say anything.

Sanjana said- My child has been burnt As soon as DM leaves. A woman was seen running behind his car. She stopped by us. He said – Brother, our child has burnt to death.

The commissioner said – there was a fire from inside After some time, Commissioner Vimal Dubey reached the hospital. He said- most of the children have been saved. The children's ward has two units, one inside and one outside. The fire started from inside.

CMS Sachin Mahor said – there were 54 children in the ward, 10 have died.

CMS said – 54 children were admitted, the fire had spread in the entire ward Jhansi Chief Medical Superintendent (CMS) Sachin Mahor said- 54 children were admitted in the SNCU ward, suddenly the oxygen concentrator caught fire. This ward is highly oxygenated. As soon as the fire started, it spread throughout the room. So far 10 children have died. The remaining children are under treatment.

After the CMS statement, we went to the ward where the children were kept after the rescue. There was no facility like SNCU here. The children were kept wrapped in clothes and towels. The staff was not even visible.

After this there was also a sound like a big bang. It felt like a bomb had exploded. Then the doctor and nurse were seen running away. This incident happened due to the negligence of the hospital staff.
