Jaishankar said- India-China armies retreated from the border: Foreign Minister of both countries and NSA will meet soon; An agreement was reached on October 21

Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar said on Tuesday that the 'disengagement chapter' with China is now over. The armies of both the countries have completed their withdrawal from the disputed areas of Depsang and Demchok along the LAC. Now the matter has gone too far. Jaishankar was speaking at a joint press conference with Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong in Canberra.

Jaishankar said- After the completion of the divorce, now the focus of both the countries will be on de-escalation. A meeting of the Foreign Ministers and National Security Advisers (NSAs) will be held soon for this. Jaishankar did not mention any date.

This was the 15th Framework Dialogue between the Foreign Ministers of India and Australia, held in Canberra.

The challenge of reducing troop numbers In response to a question asked at the press conference, the External Affairs Minister said, 'Once the process of withdrawal of troops from the border is completed, we will face other challenges. He said these challenges also include reducing the number of troops on both sides.

Jaishankar said- Prime Minister Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping had a conversation during the BRICS meeting. In this, the two countries have agreed to a meeting between their foreign minister and the NSA. Then PM Modi said that the relationship between the two countries is important for our people, global peace and stability.

4 major military barriers between India and China

  • June 2020, Galwan Valley Clash: First conflict in 45 years in which soldiers lost their lives. In which 20 Indian jawans were martyred.
  • January 2021, Sikkim clash: Soldiers of both countries clashed near Nathu-la-Pas in which soldiers from both sides were injured.
  • September 2021, Pangong Firing: Both fired as a warning. This was a violation of the 1996 'No Firearms' Agreement.
  • December 2022, Tawang Clash: A clash took place between the troops of the two countries near the Tawang sector of Arunachal Pradesh.

China said- bilateral relations between the two countries will move forward Earlier, a spokesperson of the Chinese Embassy in India wrote on Twitter, 'Chinese and Indian armies are implementing the agreement reached between the two sides on border issues. Currently it is running smoothly. Also, Chinese Ambassador to India Zhu Feihong said that he hoped that bilateral relations between the two countries would continue to grow. It will not be affected by any particular disagreement.
