Congress and National Conference are fighting together in Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections. The Congress announced the first list of 9 candidates late on Monday night. The National Conference has also announced 18 candidates. The seat sharing formula between the two parties was decided on August 26. Out of the 90 seats in the union territory, the National Conference will contest 51 seats and the Congress will contest 32 seats. There will be a friendly fight on 5 seats. CPI(M) and Panthers Party got 2 seats. Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal, Salman Khurshid and State Congress President Hamid Kara visited National Conference Supremo Farooq Abdullah's residence in Srinagar on Monday. After an hour-long meeting between the leaders, the issue of distribution of seats was discussed.
