Mobile users bothered by unwanted calls can heave a sigh of relief from September 1. The condition is that the companies included in the white list (safe number) do not reactivate the block number by taking advantage of the emergency status. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is currently working on solving this problem. Telecom regulator TRAI has announced new guidelines for all telecom providers including BSNL, Idea-Vodafone, Airtel, Jio. It is said to be strictly enforced from September 1. TRAI has asked to shift telemarketing calls and commercial messaging starting from the 140 mobile number series to a blockchain-based distributed ledger technology (DLT) platform. Companies take advantage of number unblocking for natural calamities, internal or external security or to provide necessary security directives, usually within 15-20 days the number falls within the range of unblocking for some time (two hours). Then the number is not automatically blocked. Taking advantage of this, marketing companies start sending messages and calls. A TRAI official said that the subscription of telemarketer companies will be canceled for one month for sending messages taking advantage of emergency situations. Repeated mistakes may result in blacklisting.
