India and Malaysia to conduct Harimau Shakti exercise: Begins December 2 in Kuala Lumpur; A battalion of a Rajput regiment will participate

India and Malaysia will conduct a joint military exercise between December 2 and 15. The Indian Army said that the exercise will be held at the Bentong Camp in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia. This exercise has been named Harimau Shakti-2024.

Last year, the military exercise took place in Umroi Cantonment of Meghalaya, India. The 5th Royal Battalion of the Malaysian Army and a battalion of the Indian Rajput Regiment participated in it.

Apart from this, the Agni Yoddha military exercise between the Indian Army and the Singapore Armed Forces was completed on 30 November. The exercise, held in Devlali, Maharashtra, was its 13th edition. 182 soldiers of the Singapore Artillery and 114 soldiers of the Indian Army Artillery Regiment participated in the three-day exercise.

Dangers like real war, youths also become martyrs In other words, a war exercise is a kind of imaginary war, but the risks involved are the same as in real war. This is because real weapons are used for practice as well. Accidents also happen during this period.

One such accident took place on June 28 this year, in which five jawans were martyred. A river crossing exercise was being conducted on Shyok River in Daulat Beg Oldi area of Ladakh. A T-72 tank was washed away in a flash flood and five soldiers were killed.

Two reasons to study war with other countries…

First: Colonel Bhojraj Singh (retd) says that there are 193 member states in the UN. Of these, the armies of more than 120 countries work for the UN. Under the leadership of the UN, the armies of many countries work together on peacekeeping missions. In such a situation Indian Army also goes to UN Mission.

During the mission, the armies of different countries face many challenges while working together. Challenges such as language, culture, geography and coordination are faced.

To meet these challenges and to improve coordination between the armies of the Allies, the tradition of war studies began. Indian Army conducts war studies with more than 30 countries. Most of these exercises have taken place with the US Army.

Second: Each country's army has its own specialty. The American Army has the most modern weapons. For physical and mental improvement they go to other countries to study warfare.

India shares borders with seven countries (China, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Nepal, Myanmar, Bhutan). The deserts in the west of India, the Himalayas in the north, Ladakh and Siachen have temperatures of minus 23 degrees, while there are more rivers and forests on the border with Bangladesh.

The sea borders the Arabian Sea in the south. Indian Army has experience in every situation. This is the reason why most of the countries practice war with the Indian Army. Indian and US armies conduct war exercises together every year. The armies of both the countries study war in India for one year and in America for the next year.

The tradition of war studies was initiated to improve coordination among the Allied armies. Indian Army conducts war studies with more than 30 countries. (Representation Image)

How Military Practice is Done, Understand in 6 Points…

1. Armies of both countries work in a single team Major General Ranu Singh Rathore (retd) says that during the study, the armies of the two countries do not fight face to face. Separate teams have been formed by combining the soldiers of both the countries. Each team has an equal number of soldiers from both countries.

2. Tasks ranging from killing terrorists to saving people in floods Maneuvers are performed in different ways. In this, tasks range from raiding the hideouts of dummy terrorists to search operations to rescuing people from their clutches. During the border patrol, drills like catching smugglers and rescuing people in floods are also carried out. Apart from this, there are exercises like departure for army operation, logistics, ammunition, medical delivery etc.

4. Target fake, setup real A dummy target is placed for practice, but the setup is the same as the original. For example, terrorists are hiding in a house. The team has been tasked with rescuing the hostages from there. For this, dummies of terrorists are hidden in various places. In such a situation, they have the accuracy of hitting without being seen.

5. Situation more difficult than real war In order to make the soldiers stronger in practice, they are given tougher conditions than actual war. The team is given very meager rations. Limited water is given even in extreme heat. One has to walk many kilometers. During this time they also have to overcome many other hurdles. This is done so that the soldiers can be prepared to carry out the operation even under difficult conditions.

6. Use real ammunition and weapons During the military exercise, all the real weapons are used, from guns, tanks, ammunition to missiles. However, the marks are dummy. Old vehicles are kept as dummy targets for missile and tank shell firing.
