In the first phase of the Jharkhand assembly elections, voting began on 43 seats in 15 districts from 7 am on Tuesday. which will continue till 4 pm. In which 1.37 crore voters will be included. Out of 43 seats in the first phase, 14 seats are in Kolhan, 13 seats in South Chotanagpur, 9 seats in Palamu and 7 seats in North Chotanagpur division.
According to the Election Commission, 683 candidates are in the fray in the first phase. Out of which 43 are women candidates. The special thing is that out of the 28 tribal reserved seats in the state, elections are being held for 20 seats in this phase. In which the number of women voters is more.
Former CM Champai Soren along with his son Babulal Soren, former CM Arjun Munda's wife Meera Munda, Madhu Koda's wife Geeta Koda, Raghuvar Das's daughter-in-law Poornima Sahu, Minister Mithilesh Thakur, Minister Rameshwar Oran, Ranchi MLA. CP Singh and JMM's Rajya Sabha MP Mahua Maji are contesting the election. Voting on 81 assembly seats in the state will be held in two phases on November 13 and November 20.
Last time India won 29 out of 43 seats
If we look at the previous election results on the 43 seats where voting is scheduled for the first phase of the elections, the UPA (now India) won 29 seats. Whereas, the NDA (then not the BJP-AJSU alliance) was stuck on just 14 seats. Out of the 38 seats to be contested in the second phase, the UPA won 22 seats in the last election. In contrast, the NDA was restricted to only 14 seats.
