On the evening of October 13, a Durga Idol immersion procession was leaving a special community area in Maharajganj town of Hardi area of ​​Mahasi tehsil of Bahraich. Some people started pelting stones from the rooftop and opened fire on the protesters, in which a youth named Ramgopal Mishra was shot. More than 15 people have also been injured in this incident. At the same time, villagers placed Ramgopal's body on the road in front of the medical college and started raising slogans against the police administration. Villagers said that on Sunday, when the idol worship procession was leaving from Maharajganj town in Mahasi tehsil to Rehua Mansoor village, some people from other communities protested against the DJ playing at the place. After this the dispute escalated and stone pelting and firing started. More than a dozen people from the Hindu party were injured.

DM Monica Rani said that around 25 people have been implicated in the FIR, strict action will be taken against those involved in the violence.
