Election of BJP National President in December: 4-member team formed, state presidents to be elected first

In June 2024, BJP president JP Nadda was given an extension of 6 months.

BJP has announced the team for the organizational elections. Rajya Sabha MP K. Laxman has been declared the chief of the election of the National President. This team will conduct the election process of BJP National President.

Election of BJP National President is to be held in December. It started with a membership drive. The membership campaign will run till October 17. After this, organizational elections will be held in the states.

A new president will be elected in the states. At the same time, the election of the National President will be announced after the completion of elections in 50% of the states.

Laxman will be the Election Officer, Bansal and Patra are also involved The date of nomination and the date of polling will be announced after the announcement of the election program of the BJP National President. If there is only one name for the National President, the Election Officer will declare him as the new National President of the party. K. Along with Laxman, MP Naresh Bansal, Sambit Patra and National Vice-President Rekha Verma have been made National Co-Electoral Officers.

JP Nadda's tenure was extended in June

Nadda's tenure ended in January this year. was extended for the Lok Sabha elections. The party had to elect a new president in July. But an organizational election is necessary before the election of a new chairman. It takes 6 months. So, in June, Nadda's tenure was extended by another 6 months.

Nadda is also a Union Minister, so any General Secretary can be made Acting Chairman to run his day-to-day affairs. Sunil Bansal and Vinod Tawde are named next.

Later the responsibility of the full chairman may be handed over to the executive Sources say that whoever gets the responsibility of acting chairman may be made the full-time chairman in future. The tenure of party president is 3 years. Therefore, the new chairman can form his new team in time for the October-November 2025 Bihar assembly elections, 2026 West Bengal and 2027 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.

When the time comes to elect a new Speaker in 2028, he will have about a year and a half to prepare for the 2029 Lok Sabha elections.

The reason for making the Executive Chairman The BJP constitution has a one-person, one-post system, so Nadda cannot be the full-time national president even though he is a Union minister. Therefore, the party can resolve this technical aspect by appointing a working chairman. Even after 2019, BJP kept Amit Shah as its president. Nadda became the acting chairman.

Who can replace JP Nadda, know about Sunil Bansal and Tawde

Reason for strong claim: The BJP National General Secretary is a former campaigner of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Considered close to Amit Shah. According to an Economic Times report, during the Lok Sabha election campaign, Bansal was manning all the call centers across the country, getting feedback and working to motivate activists at the grassroots level. He is also in charge of Odisha, Bengal and Telangana.

Weak link: Hails from Rajasthan and was in charge of Uttar Pradesh before the 2014 elections. Under his leadership, the BJP performed brilliantly in the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections. In the 2024 elections, the BJP has suffered a setback in both the states of Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.

BJP lost 11 seats in Rajasthan while BJP lost 29 seats in Uttar Pradesh. In such a situation, it is possible that the party may once again send them to one of these two states to strengthen the organization afresh instead of bringing them to the national level.

Reason for strong claim: He was made Maharashtra General Secretary for the first time in 1995 by BJP. Considering his organizational ability, he was reassigned this responsibility in 2002. After winning the election from Maharashtra's Borivali Assembly seat in 2014, he became the Education Minister in Devendra Fadnavis' government.

Tawde was a key member of the coordination committee of the BJP in the 12th and 13th Lok Sabha elections. He is said to be a skilled administrator as well as a skilled organizer. Vinod Tawde has also been in charge of Haryana. Manohar Lal Khattar's government was formed in Haryana when he was in charge.

Political experts believe that assembly elections are due in Maharashtra later this year. In such a situation, making him BJP president will send a good message to the state. Considering the poor performance of the party in the Lok Sabha elections, this decision could prove to be very beneficial for the assembly elections.

Weak link: He is in charge of Bihar and assembly elections are due to be held there next year itself. In the Lok Sabha elections, the party's seats have reduced from 17 to 12. As Tawde has been given a new responsibility, the new in-charge will have to start work afresh here.
