Nine people were injured in a stampede at Bandra railway station in Mumbai on Sunday morning after a stampede to board a train. The incident took place at 5.56 am on platform number one of Bandra Terminus. An official of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation said that the boarding of train 22921 Bandra-Gorakhpur Express was marred by stampede and stampede. All the injured were taken to Bhabha Hospital.
The injured have been identified as Shabbir Abdul Rehman (40), Parameshwar Sukhdar Gupta (28), Ravindra Harihar Chuma (30), Ramsevak Ravindra Prasad Prajapati (29), Sanjay Tilakram Kange (27), Divyanshu Yogendrav (18), Mohammad Sharif Sheikh (25). ), have been identified as Inderjit Sahni (19) and Noor Mohammad Shaikh (18).

Festival crowds led to stampedes
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said the stampede was due to festive rush ahead of Diwali. Pictures and videos of the stampede have also emerged showing blood splattered on the floor and injured people lying unconscious. Railway police personnel and other passengers are carrying the injured on stretchers.
