Cyclonic storm 'Dana' formed from Bay of Bengal is moving towards Odisha at a speed of 18 km per hour. It started raining in Odisha's Bhadrak from Thursday morning. The cyclone will hit near Bhitarkanika National Park and Dhamra Port around 2 pm today.
According to the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre, during this time, the cyclone will move over the northern part of Odisha at a speed of 120 kmph.
Odisha and West Bengal will be most affected by this storm. Due to this, flights at Bhubaneswar and Kolkata airports will be canceled for about 16 hours from 5 pm on Thursday to 9 am on October 25.
Schools and colleges have been closed till October 25 in 14 districts of Odisha. 10 lakh people of this district are being shifted. Holidays of government employees have been cancelled. All tourism parks, Odisha High Court have been closed till October 25.
Odisha has deployed 288 teams of National Disaster Relief Force (NDRF), Odisha Disaster Relief Force (ODRF) and Fire Brigade.

The IMD has forecast heavy to very heavy rains in Angul, Nayagarh, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Kenduzhar, Jajpur, Cuttack and Dhenkanal, Khordha, Ganjam and Puri districts from October 24 to 26.
West Bengal: Heavy rain is likely over East Medinipur, West Medinipur, South 24 Parganas and North 24 Parganas, while Kolkata, Howrah, Hooghly and Jhargram are likely to receive heavy rain between October 23 and 24.
Andhra Pradesh: Rayalaseema region of Andhra Pradesh is likely to experience heavy rain with gusting winds of 30 to 50 kmph.
Karnataka: Heavy rains ahead of the cyclone have created flood-like conditions in Karnataka.
Tamil Nadu- Puducherry: The IMD has issued an alert of heavy rains for five days in Tamil Nadu and several states of eastern India.

Five teams of NDRF's 7th Battalion reached Odisha's Bhubaneswar Airport on Tuesday night.
The Indian Air Force airlifted an NDRF team, 150 soldiers and relief material to Bhubaneswar in Odisha.
IL76 and AN32 aircraft were flown to Bhubaneswar from Bathinda, Punjab. These planes reached here on Wednesday morning.

Teams of the National Disaster Relief Force (NDRF) have been kept on standby in both Odisha and West Bengal in view of the cyclone. Apart from this, rescue and relief teams of Army, Navy and Coast Guard have also been kept on high alert. 20 teams of Odisha NDRF, 51 teams of Odisha Disaster Rapid Force (ODRF) and 178 teams of Fire Brigade have been deployed. More than 3,000 vulnerable villages have been identified in 14 districts. About 6,000 relief camps have been set up. Up to 11 inches of rain could fall on October 25, so coastal areas have been largely evacuated. Schools have been closed from October 23 to 26 in eight districts of West Bengal – South 24 Parganas, North 24 Parganas, East Medinipur, West Medinipur, Jhargram, Bankura, Hooghly, Howrah and Kolkata. 85 relief teams have been deployed in the state. NDRF DIG Mohsen Shahidi said 20 teams have been deployed in Odisha, 13 in West Bengal and four in Reserve. Another senior NDRF official said a total of 45 teams were sought from various states. We have identified a total of 56 teams, of which 45 are actively deployed. Nine teams each have been deployed in Andhra Pradesh and Jharkhand while one team has been deployed in Chhattisgarh.
