Consultant arrested in Chhatrapati Shivaji statue demolition case: Police nabbed from relative's house at midnight; Ajit Pawar said – the monument will be built again

Sindhudurg Police has arrested structural consultant and contractor Chetan Patil in connection with the fall of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj statue in Kolhapur, Maharashtra. Chetan will be brought to Sindhudurg today. Chetan Patil was arrested from Kolhapur on Thursday night. Chetan had earlier claimed that he was not a structural consultant for the project. An FIR was registered at the Sindhudurg police station after a 35-feet tall statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj collapsed on August 26. This included the name of Thane-based sculptor Jaideep Apte. Deputy CM Ajit Pawar reached Malvan on Friday. Everyone is saddened by whatever happened, he said. Action will be taken against the culprits. It will be taken away from wherever it runs. Who is Chetan Patil? Chetan Patil was the structural consultant when the statue of Shivaji Maharaj was installed. He was also a professor in an educational institution in Kolhapur since 2010. In an interview given to a Marathi news channel two days ago, Chetan said that I have nothing to do with the construction of the statue. I have prepared only the platform for the statue. A Pune-based company was entrusted with the work of the statue. Ajit Pawar said – The monument will be rebuilt Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar reached Sindhudurg in Malvan on Friday morning. Meanwhile he said, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is our God and everyone is proud of his history. The Chief Minister has held meetings in this matter. The memorial will be rebuilt. Action will be taken against the culprits. They will be caught wherever they run. CM Shinde said- 2 Committees will investigate Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said on August 29 that the state government is taking a war footing decision to rebuild the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Two committees have been formed to probe the incident. Naval officers, IITians, architects, engineers and internationally renowned sculptors have been called for this. Opposition parties should not play politics in this matter. Respecting Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is everyone's duty. PM Modi unveiled in December 2023 A statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was unveiled during the Navy Day celebrations on December 4 last year. The purpose of installing this statue was to honor the legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and the historical relationship of the Maratha Navy with the modern Indian Navy. PM Narendra Modi unveiled the statue.
