Bhaskar Exclusive: Center ready to give government jobs to 42 per cent of retired firemen

42% of the personnel retiring in 2026-27 from the first batch of firemen will be absorbed into government jobs. This number is different from the 25% Agniveer, who will be inducted into the Army. That is, after joining the army, 75% of the increased jawans will be included in various ministries and departments of the central and state governments. On Friday, Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh expressed his desire to induct more than 25% of fire fighters into the Indian Air Force.

The tenure of the first lot of Agniveeras will end in 2026-27. This number is approximately 1 lakh. In which 25 thousand will be appointed in the army. Of the remaining 75 thousand firemen, 42% (31500) will be included in the regular services of various departments. This would include government departments other than paramilitary forces. A home ministry official says the target is to recruit 100% firemen after retirement (4 years) and will start with 42%.

A dedicated unit will decide who to appoint where According to sources, there is a proposal to create a dedicated unit (3 and more) in each ministry, which will see who can be included among the retired firefighters, in which department and unit. For this, the educational and other qualifications of retired firemen will be taken into consideration. Age relaxation in regular employment will be followed.
