Bengaluru Mahalakshmi murder case, main accused commits suicide: Body found hanging from tree in Odisha village, suicide note confesses to murder

The prime accused in the Bangalore Mahalakshmi murder case committed suicide by hanging himself in a village in Odisha's Bhadrak district on Wednesday afternoon. Police have found a suicide note from him. Bengaluru police was also looking for the accused.

According to the police, the name of the deceased is Muktiranjan Roy. His body was found hanging from a tree near Bhuinpur village of Ardi police station. His bike was also found parked there. In the suicide note, Muktiranjan has confessed to killing Mahalakshmi.

On September 20, 29-year-old Mahalakshmi's body was found in a three-storey house near Basappa Garden in Bengaluru's Vyalikaval area. His body was cut into 59 pieces and kept in a refrigerator. The murder was revealed when a stench emanated from the room.

Mahalakshmi was married and separated from her husband for 4 years. Worked in a mall in Bengaluru. He also has a 4-year-old daughter. Mahalakshmi's family accused her colleagues of murder.

Muktiranjan is the main accused in the Mahalakshmi murder case. Mahalakshmi was found dead on September 20.

When Jeevan reached Mahalakshmi's door, the stench became so strong that it became difficult for him to stand. The door was locked. Jeevan immediately called Mahalakshmi's brother Ukkam Singh and sister. Mahalakshmi's family reached around 12.30 pm. After this the lock of the door was broken.

Blood was spattered in the room and insects crawled across the floor. All the belongings of the house were scattered. When the fridge was opened, Mahalakshmi's severed head, legs and more than 59 dead body parts were found inside. The family immediately called the police.

It was the police who told the family that two people had come to Mahalakshmi's house on a scooty on the night of the murder. Which has also been seen in CCTV. In this case, the police questioned a hair dresser named Ashraf. Apart from Ashraf, the victim's family also suspected some people working with Mahalakshmi.

The accused had cut Mahalakshmi's body into 59 pieces and kept it in a fridge and locked it from outside. The murder was reported after 19 days due to the stench coming from the house.

When the fridge was opened, it was filled with pieces of Mahalakshmi's dead body Dainik Bhaskar took information about the incident from Mahalakshmi's brother Ukkam Singh. According to Ukkam, the police do not want anyone from the family to speak to the media. After much persuasion they were getting ready.

According to Ukkam, 'On September 20 at 7 pm, my mother received a call from elder sister Lakshmi. He said that Mahalakshmi's neighbor got a call. When we got worried, we immediately left to meet her and reached Mahalakshmi's house at around 12.30 pm. The smell was coming from outside the house.

According to Ukkam, 'As soon as he broke the lock and entered the house, everything was scattered. A suitcase with a trolley was kept in the hall. There were traces of blood on the floor. Insects were crawling. My mother opened the fridge first. He got scared and went back. Left home with my sister.

The pieces of Mahalakshmi's dead body were kept in the fridge. We first called the police and then Mahalakshmi's husband Hemant and told all this.

Ukkam gave three names to the police Who killed the sister? In this regard, Ukkam gave three names to the police. It included Mahalakshmi's manager, an office colleague and a friend. The police also arrested them, but released them only after questioning.

According to Ukkam, the investigating officer said that he had traced one of the accused. Police suspect 5 people. Police have arrested one accused.

The prime accused was said to be a resident of Odisha and absconding. The police were busy looking for him.

At the same time, Yogita, who runs a grocery shop in the neighborhood, said that Mahalakshmi sometimes came to buy goods. She lived here alone and did not mingle much with the neighbors. She used to go to work at 9:30 am every day and return home only after 10:30 pm.

Neighbors had seen a stranger picking up and dropping Mahalakshmi from her house several times, but no one knew who the person was.

He bought the fridge in which Mahalakshmi's body was found Ukkam said that Mahalakshmi was an independent woman. He bought all the things in the house with his own money. She brought all the things in the house, including the sofa and the cupboard. He also bought the refrigerator in which his body was found a few days ago.

Leaving her husband, Mahalakshmi lived alone, her sister also married a Muslim. Ukkam said that our family is a resident of Tikapur village in Kathand state of Nepal. 30 years ago my parents came for work and settled here.

Mahalakshmi has one sister and two brothers. Lakshmi and Mahalakshmi are twin sisters. Lakshmi is married to a Muslim man. After marriage she changed her name to Shahida Bushura.

Mahalakshmi was married to Hemant Das who lived in Nelamangala. Hemant works in a mobile accessories shop. Mahalakshmi used to work in a mall. He also has a 4-year-old daughter.

Mahalakshmi and Hemant lived separately for almost 4 years. However, both were not yet divorced. Daughter lived with Hemant.

Mahalakshmi was living in a rented house in Vyalikaval on 5th Cross Pipeline Road near Basappa Garden since October 2023.

67 enquiry, FSL investigation found no evidence Police sources told Bhaskar that 67 people have been questioned so far in the case. Out of which the police have strictly interrogated 8 people on the basis of suspicion. The Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team found no evidence of forced entry into the house. No traces of blood were found on the floor.

It is believed that after the murder, the accused cleaned the blood with chemicals and ran away. FSL specialists detect blood stains using a chemical called luminol. However, this claim of FSL and the statement of the family do not match. Ukkam claimed there was blood and maggots on the floor when they walked in.

So far 59 body parts have been found Vyalikaval police has seized the refrigerator and conducted forensic investigation. Police suspect that the killer may have washed the house thoroughly or butchered the body elsewhere before fleeing. A trolley suitcase found in the bedroom was used to store and dispose of the body.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the body parts were kept in the fridge for 19 days. So far 59 body parts have been found. The pieces were first pieced together in Boring Hospital's post-mortem house. Further investigation was then conducted. Mahalakshmi's mobile was found in the house, it was switched off. A forensic investigation is also being conducted.

Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayanand said that the body was cut into pieces and kept in a 165 liter single door refrigerator. Investigation revealed that the woman's head had been cut into three parts. The legs were cut into several pieces. The woman's intestines, hair on her head and other small parts were kept in a refrigerator in a plastic bag.

The police also seized the fridge from Mahalakshmi's house and sent it to the forensic lab for examination, which kept the pieces of her dead body.

According to police sources, the police have not even found the weapon that was used to dismember Mahalakshmi's body. Police found several fingerprints at the scene of the murder. The police are still waiting for the postmortem examination and the FSL report. Two special teams have been formed to investigate the matter.
