There has been tension on the Bangladesh border in Assam for the past three days. The Border Guards of Bangladesh (BGB) are keeping an eye on the temple being built on this side of the Kushiara river, i.e. on the Indian border. However, our BSF jawans are also standing alert to answer them.
The case is from Sribhoomi in Assam. In this area, Kushiara River is the border line between the two countries and there is a distance of 150 meters on either side of the river. The area is no man's land. Permission is required before moving here or before doing any kind of construction.
Bangladeshi troops crossed the river and entered Assam on December 5 On December 5, a team of BGB soldiers stationed at Jakiganj point in Bangladesh's Sylhet Division crossed the river and entered Sribhoomi. Local people are renovating the ancient temple of Maa Mansa Devi here on the riverside jungle road. BGB had stopped the work by threatening the workers.
A member of the temple's management committee told Bhaskar that the BSF was informed about the intrusion. A BSF team immediately reached the spot and clearly explained to the BGB personnel that the temple is far from no man's land, they should go back. But, he was not convinced.
Sribhumi district has a 94 km border with Bangladesh Currently, the construction of the temple is going on under the supervision of BSF. Let us tell you that the 94 km border of Sribhumi district is adjacent to Bangladesh. 43 km of it is riverside. While the 4 km area of the international border has not been fenced.
