An Air Force MiG-29 aircraft crashed in Agra on Monday. The plane caught fire while taking off. In sight, the plane turned into a ball of fire and fell into the field. As soon as the plane hit the ground, explosions started.
There were two pilots in the plane at the time of the accident. Both had jumped into the field seconds before the fire broke out.
The plane has crashed in an empty field near Songa village in Kagaroul. The Air Force has ordered an inquiry into the plane crash. The plane is said to have taken off from Agra's Khedia airstrip, although this has not been officially confirmed.
The villagers informed the police and fire brigade as soon as the accident was reported. After this, Air Force officials, DM and police have left for the spot. At present, the nearby villagers have gathered at the place where the plane fell.
The aircraft was en route from Gwalior to Agra for routine exercise. A court of inquiry has been ordered into the accident.
