So far 8 people have been arrested for vandalizing and setting fire to the houses of police and MLAs in Manipur. Earlier on November 16, the Patsoi police in Imphal West had arrested an accused for setting fire to the houses of MLAs. The rest were arrested on November 27.
On the other hand, after the recent violent incidents in Manipur, Koro Nganba Khuman, the supremo of Meitei outfit Arambai Tangol, and the head of the Kuki outfit are on the NIA's radar. The NIA is investigating four cases of attacks on security forces and IED blasts in Manipur. These include the looting of arms and ammunition from the First Manipur Rifles campus in Imphal, an attack on a post in Moreh and an IED blast in Bishnupur.
The Home Ministry has recently asked the NIA to investigate all four cases. The Supreme Court has also transferred these cases from the NIA Court at Imphal to the NIA Special Court at Guwahati.
An angry mob ransacked the houses of several MLAs in the Imphal Valley after the bodies of six women and children from the Meitei community were found in rivers. On November 11, Kuki militants abducted six people after an encounter with security forces in Jiribam. Ten Kuki rebels were also killed in the ensuing firefight.
Manipur's reply to Mizoram CM Lalduhoma- Be a good neighbour
- The Manipur government on Saturday responded to Mizoram Chief Minister Lal Duhoma's statement in which he said that N. Biren Singh is a liability to the state and its people as well as BJP. President's rule will also be better than his administration. It has been unable to stop the 18 months of ongoing violence in Manipur.
- In fact, in an interview given by Lalduhoma to Hindustan Times regarding Manipur violence, Manipur CM N. Biren Singh was targeted. On this statement, the Manipur government said – instead of inciting hatred and division with his comments, he should be a good neighbor and become a better politician.
- Govt said- CM of Mizoram has made false statement through fabricated stories and history. They should note that Manipur has a long history and rich culture dating back thousands of years, while Mizoram was separated from Assam only a few decades ago.
