45 people have died due to drowning during Chhath festival in Bihar. 22 people lost their lives due to drowning on Chhath festival in Kosi-Simanchal and different districts of East Bihar. The highest number of drowned was 4 in Khagaria.
Apart from this, 3 people each died in Munger and Saharsa, 2 each in Madhepura, Kishanganj, Lakhisarai and Araria and 2 people died due to drowning in Chapra. 1-1 died in Katihar and Purnia.
At the same time, two people have died due to drowning in Bhagalpur district. A team of SDRF is searching for the missing persons.
Five people, including two teenage girls, drowned while preparing for Chhath Ghat and bathing in the river at different places in Khakharia. Out of which the dead bodies of four were recovered. A team of SDRF is searching for the missing teenager.
Six people, including two children, drowned in separate blocks of Munger district on Thursday and Friday during Ardhya. Of which two people were rescued by divers, while three people died and the search for one is on. A youth, a child and a teenager were killed in the stampede. During the Chhath Puja in Lakhisarai, two children drowned while taking a selfie and bathing at the ghat.

Samastipur has the highest number of drowning deaths
A woman's body was recovered from the river Kosi near Malharia Kosi river bridge in Purnia Kasba on Thursday. A brother and sister who had gone to witness Chhath Puja at Alepur Chhath Ghat in Kadamagachi Panchayat of Barsoi block of Katihar drowned after their foot slipped on the ghat. People present at the spot saved the sister, but the brother died due to drowning.
On the other hand, two people, including a child, have died due to drowning in Madhepura. At the same time, 19 people died due to drowning at various places in North Bihar. Samastipur has the highest death toll of 7 people. At the same time, 3 people died due to drowning in Muzaffarpur, 5 in Sitamarhi, 2 in Motihari and one each in Darbhanga and Madhubani.
Boat sinks in Chhapra, 2 dead
Two youths have died and one is missing after a boat capsized during the Chhath festival in Chhapra. The accident took place in the lake of Panchbhinda village in Taraiya police station area. Where there were 10 boys in a small boat.
5 children drowned in the river, two died
Six boys and girls drowned while taking a bath in the Ara Son river at the ghat of Andhari village in Sahar block. In which two girls died. Even after 36 hours of drowning and SDRF's search operation, the child has not been found. The incident took place at 11 am on Thursday in the river in front of Andhari village in Chauri police station area.
