29 names in BJP's third list in Jammu and Kashmir: 28 candidates repeat from yesterday's deleted list; Candidate changed from Vaishnodevi seat

BJP on Tuesday (August 27) announced the third list of candidates for the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections. It has 29 names. The party announced 15 names in the first list and one in the second list. Devinder Singh Rana will contest from Nagarota assembly seat. The candidate has been replaced from Srimata Vaishnodevi seat. On August 26, BJP released 3 lists of candidates. It contained the names of 44 candidates for the third phase, but was deleted shortly after. As soon as the first list came out, a demonstration of workers started at the Jammu BJP office. Activists said the party has fielded parachute candidates. After this, state BJP president Ravindra Raina went to his cabin and locked the door. The matter reached the high command. Two hours after the release of the first list, the second list came out at 12 pm, which contained the names of 15 candidates of the first phase. This was followed by another list at 2.45 pm. It had only one name. The name of Chaudhary Roshan Hussain was announced from Konkarnag. Voting for 90 seats in Jammu and Kashmir will be held in three phases between September 18 and October 1. The result will be out on 4 October 2024. The majority figure for victory is 46. First and second list of BJP made 40 star campaigners including Modi-Shah BJP has announced a list of 40 star campaigners including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and party president JP Nadda for election campaign in Jammu and Kashmir. The names of Shivraj Chauhan, Yogi Adityanath and Smriti Irani are also in this list. The party has appointed national spokesperson RP Singh and Shazia Ilmi as media coordinators. Punjab media coordinator Vineet Joshi will also be part of the Jammu-Kashmir team. The government fell in 2018 after the coalition collapsed. After this, the state had Governor's rule for 6 months (as per the then Jammu and Kashmir Constitution). After this President's rule was implemented. The 2019 Lok Sabha elections were held during the President's rule, with the BJP returning to the Center with an overwhelming majority. Following this, on August 5, 2019, the BJP government abrogated Article 370 and divided the state into two Union Territories (Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh). In this way, assembly elections are being held in Jammu and Kashmir after 10 years.
