2000 soldiers searching for missing from army camp: Missing for 9 days from Manipur's Limakhong; A tracker dog-drone was also used

A joint search of 2000 army and police personnel is underway for 56-year-old Laishram, who went missing from Manipur's Limakhong camp on November 25. In a Facebook post on Monday, the Manipur Police said that the Manipur Police is taking the help of helicopters, drones and army tracker dogs to locate Laishram. The help of technology is also being taken for this.

An FIR has been registered at Sekmai Police Station regarding the disappearance of Laishram Kamalbabu. After this, on November 30, CM Biren Singh said that the missing person used to make furniture for army officers. He went missing from the army campus, so the army should take responsibility to find him.

Congress MP from Inner Manipur A. Bimol Akoizam also said on Tuesday, 'I appealed through the media on the issue of the missing person from the army camp. Whenever I get a chance, I will raise this issue.

The army camp from where he went missing is a Kuki dominated area

The 57th Mountain Division Limakhong Army Camp in Kangpokpi district is about 16 km from the capital Imphal and is surrounded by hills. This is a cookie dominated area. Laishram lived with his family in Khukharul, Imphal West. Maitei people living near Limakhong fled after ethnic violence erupted in May last year, in which more than 250 people have lost their lives so far.

Laishram Kamalbabu Singh, resident of Gosaipur, Udharbond, Cachar, Assam, was working as Supervisor in M/s L Binod Construction. Laishram was working as usual inside the Limakhong Army Camp on November 25. But then he disappeared. The gate log of 57 Mountain Division shows that he entered the camp but did not leave.

CCTV footage proves that Laishram entered the camp at 9:15 am on November 25 but was not seen coming out. Laishram usually returned home by 4 pm, but when he did not return by 8:30 pm and could not be reached even on the phone, his family informed the police.

Protest against delay in search of Lashram

The Joint Action Committee (JAC), formed in protest, continued their protest at Canto Sabal, about 2.5 km from the military station. Barricading has been done on the road here. Protesters claimed that Singh was abducted by Kuki extremists. Laishram Singh's wife Akoijam Belari also joined the protest.
