To increase farmers' income and provide food security for the middle class, Rs. 1,01,321 crore has been declared.
Railway employees will get 78 days bonus before Diwali. This decision was taken in the Union Cabinet meeting on Thursday. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that the government has approved a productivity linked bonus worth Rs 2029 crore for railway employees.
He said that this announcement will benefit 11,72,240 railway employees. The government has also approved the Pradhan Mantri-Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (PM-RKVY) and the Krishonnati Yojana. A provision of Rs 1,01,321 crore was made for this.
5 big decisions of cabinet meeting
- Marathi, Pali, Prakrit, Assamese and Bengali languages will be given the status of 'classical languages'.
- Phase-2 of Chennai Metro Rs. 63,246 crore allocated.
- A Productivity Linked Bonus Scheme has also been approved for 20,704 employees of the Port.
- Under the National Edible Oil Mission – Oilseeds (NMEO-Oilseeds), to promote oilseed production and achieve self-sufficiency in edible oil from 2024-25 to 2030-31 Rs. 10,103 crore will be spent.
3 criteria for declaring a classical language
For a language to fall into this category, the recorded history or earliest texts of that language must be very ancient, dating back at least a thousand years. A language has an ancient literature or collection of texts that have been valued by many generations. The literary tradition of a language should be original and not borrowed from any other language.
The Government of India created a new category of 'classical languages' on 12 October 2004 and declared Tamil as a classical language. This was followed by Sanskrit in 2005, Telugu in 2008, Kannada in 2008, Malayalam in 2013 and Oriya in 2014.
A month ago, 12 industrial cities were approved
Government under the National Industrial Corridor Development Program has allocated Rs. 28,602 crore will be invested.
Earlier, 12 new Industrial Smart Cities were approved in the Cabinet meeting on August 28. These industrial smart cities located in 10 states and six major corridors will prove to be a significant leap forward in promoting manufacturing. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has said that India will soon be a glorious array of industrial smart cities on the backbone of the Golden Quadrilateral. This will create 10 lakh direct and 30 lakh indirect jobs. These projects cost Rs. 1.52 lakh crore investment will be likely.
Modi held his first cabinet meeting on 10 June
After taking oath as the Prime Minister for the third time, the Prime Minister held the first meeting of the Council of Ministers on the very next day i.e. on 10 June. In which three crore new houses were allowed to be built for the poor. A total of 4.21 crore houses have been constructed under this scheme in the last 10 years. Under the scheme, financial assistance is provided from the central and state governments for constructing houses.
PM Modi also signed the Samman Nidhi file. Under the Centre's Farmers Welfare Scheme, 9.3 crore farmers of the country are getting Rs. 6,000 as financial assistance is provided. This is called Kisan Samman Nidhi. Modi approved its 17th installment.

3 crore new houses to be built under Awas Yojana: Modi cabinet also approves 8 railway projects
The Union Cabinet on August 9 approved the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban 2.0 Yojana. Under this scheme, three crore houses will be constructed at a cost of Rs 3,60,000 crore. Eight railway projects were sanctioned to improve connectivity. Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnav informed the decisions of the Cabinet. As per the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban 2.0 scheme, families belonging to the EWS/LIG/Middle Income Group (MIG) segment who do not have a permanent house anywhere in the country are eligible to purchase or construct a house under PMAY-U 2.0.
