The BJP had presented the then Chief Minister Raghuvar Das as its chief ministerial face in the 2019 assembly elections. Raghuvar was the first non-tribal Chief Minister of Jharkhand. At that time there was discontent in many quarters against Raghuvar Das. There was public resentment over the CNT, the SPT Act and the rights of tribals. People were dissatisfied with his working style. The opposition coalition UPA took it up effectively in the campaign. Due to which BJP was defeated.
