Know what is the election connection of the film!

  • Indeed, Narendra Modi was the Chief Minister of the state when this incident took place in Gujarat. His name is often associated with that tragedy. In March 2002, he constituted the Nanavati-Shah Commission to investigate the Godhra incident. Retired High Court Judge K G Shah and Retired Supreme Court Judge G T Nanavati became its members.
  • The commission presented the first part of its report in September 2008. In which the Godhra incident was described as a well-planned conspiracy. Also Narendra Modi, his ministers and senior officials were given a clean chit.
  • Justice KG Shah died in 2009. After which retired Judge of Gujarat High Court Justice Akshay Mehta became its member and then the commission was named Nanavati-Mehta Commission.
  • The commission presented the second part of its report in December 2019. This too repeated what was said in the first part of the report.

These films have also become tax free, benefiting at the box office Before the Sabarmati report, the 2022 film 'The Kashmir Files' was also released tax-free in many BJP-ruled states across the country. Apart from this, around 48 films like 'Dangal', 'Uri', 'PK, Lage Raho Munnabhai', 'Tanaji', 'Taare Zameen Par' and 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' were also made tax free in many states. Due to being tax free, the box office collections of all these films saw a huge jump. Three of these films, 'Dangal', 'Uri' and 'The Kashmir Files' proved to be all-time blockbusters. While the collection of 12 films was more than 200 crore rupees.
