Bilateral talks will take place between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping on Wednesday, October 23. Both the leaders will meet after 2 years. This will be the first time that Modi and Xi will hold bilateral talks after strained relations following a bitter clash in 2020. Secretary of the Ministry of External Affairs Vikram Misri has given this information.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in Kazan, Russia on Tuesday to participate in the BRICS Summit. Here he held bilateral talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Meanwhile, both the leaders hugged each other.
“Our relations are so good that you understand what I say without a translator,” Putin said.
Along with this, Prime Minister Modi maintained India's stance on the Ukraine war. He said, “Every problem should be resolved peacefully. The Russia-Ukraine war will stop only through dialogue. India is ready to provide all assistance in resolving the conflict.
Modi said-
Every effort of India is in support of humanity. We want to restore peace as soon as possible.
PM Modi has gone to Russia for the second time in the last 4 months. Earlier, when he visited Russia in July, he advised Putin that peace cannot be achieved with bombs, guns and bullets. After this he also went on a trip to Ukraine. where he told Zelensky-
I winked at Putin and told him that this is not the time for war.
In Russia, Modi was welcomed with ladoo and roti and salt
Bread salt is a traditional way of welcoming in Russia.
Earlier, when Modi arrived at the airport, he was welcomed with laddoos and bread and salt. He also met NRIs here. After this, reaching a hotel in Kazan, he also saw a dance by Russian artists dressed in Indian costumes.
PM Modi had earlier come to participate in the India-Russia Summit in July.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, PM Modi will attend the BRICS meeting on Wednesday. It will be held in two sessions. First thing in the morning, there will be a closed plenary i.e. a closed room discussion. This will be followed by an open plenary in the evening. Meanwhile, PM Modi will also hold bilateral talks with many leaders.
BRICS Summit has been held 15 times so far
The first summit of BRIC countries was held in 2009. It was organized in Russia. After this, it was renamed to BRICS after joining South Africa in the year 2010. BRICS Summit has been held 15 times so far. This time its 16th summit is being organized.
Russia has hosted the BRICS summit three times so far. This will be the fourth time that Putin will chair the BRICS.
