Tanushree Dutta on Hema Committee report: 'Such reports should be done on Bollywood too, people like Nana Patekar can even get someone killed'

Recently, the Hema Committee report revealed cases of sexual harassment and casting couch in the Malayalam film industry. Actress Tanushree Dutta shared her experience while talking to Frontpage Insights on this issue. He questioned Nana Patekar's assassination attempts and the male-dominated mindset of the South film industry. Notably, in 2018, Tanushree accused Nana Patekar, choreographer Ganesh Acharya and director Vivek Agnihotri of sexual harassment under the #MeToo movement. 'There should be such a report on Bollywood too' At first I didn't understand what this report was about. To be honest I had no idea about it. My first reaction was a bit of confusion. I felt that this report would also be like the Visakha Committee. Much was heard about the Visakha Committee, but its rules were not followed. After some time his voice also became less. So I thought this report would be the same. I did not understand that this report was about the workings of the film industry. Now I realize that this report tells about the real state of the industry. This is a good thing. But I still don't understand why it took six-seven years to make it? Circumstances change every day. Such reports should come soon. However, I am happy that this report was prepared and published. I want a report to be made on Bollywood as well. When people get the right information, they can prepare themselves before entering the industry. Appropriate action can be taken when the government and people become aware of the issues. From this perspective, I appreciate this report. It took me two-three days to understand it, but if everything is explained properly and it is made with good research, the government should act on it. 'South is a male dominated industry' 'South film industry is a male dominated industry. I saw some scenes from his films and I was amazed. In one scene a song was playing and the hero was kissing a girl. I thought, do they show these in the movies? Now in Bollywood, such scenes of molestation and rape are rarely shown. But such scenes are still shown in South films. These heroes and heroines are becoming stars all over India, they should stop doing such scenes. If such a big hero refuses, that scene will not happen. No matter how popular his content is getting in South, his ideology is still old. Actors there should not do such scenes. If they refuse, such scenarios will stop happening. I hope that after watching this interview, some people in the South will think about this.' 'People like Nana Patekar are very violent' People like Nana Patekar and what happened to the Kolkata victim, their thinking is very violent. These people can do anything. People like Nana Patekar can even get someone killed. It bothered me a lot. After this movement, I was subjected to many types of torture. Goons were sent to intimidate me, accidents were tried to happen to me and food was adulterated by my housemaid, which caused my health to deteriorate. My emails were hacked and false rumors were spread about me. All this was intended to intimidate and break me, so that I would stop my voice. But I didn't give up and I won't give up again. This fight will continue, because I know these people are trying to silence me, but I will always stand for my truth.' 'Strict law should be made' Yes, I have definitely seen some changes after the #Metoo movement. Earlier those who used to hunt big and small. Those who used to molest girls have now become more cautious. Now they fear that the girl may record it and the matter may reach the police. But those who are big hunters, who have more strength yes, still have ego. The law should be strict for them and they should be punished. People who commit such crimes are corrupt minded. They have no fear of their consequences. So a strict law should be made for them.
