Shah Rukh bought 'Mannat' with 'Guddu' earnings: Mukesh Khanna says, 'King Khan sought advance payment from director'

Veteran actor Mukesh Khanna has revealed that Shah Rukh Khan bought his first house with the advance earnings of Mannat film 'Guddu'. Mukesh said that he played the role of Shah Rukh's father in the 1995 film Guddu. Even off-screen, Shahrukh commands a lot of respect for the actor. Mukesh Khanna said, 'At that time I was a bigger star than Shahrukh. At that time the entire responsibility of the TV show 'Mahabharat' was on my shoulders. Shahrukh had more big hits to come. Although he respected me a lot at that time'. Shahrukh bought his first house with the advance payment of the film 'Guddu'. Talking about Shah Rukh's house, Mukesh Khanna said, 'I was told that Shah Rukh was going to buy a house at that time. He requested the film's director Prem Lalwani to give him an advance payment, so that the actor could buy a new house. In those days a person could buy a house for Rs 34-35 lakh. Shah Rukh bought the first house (Mannat) which he bought with the money he earned from the movie 'Guddu'. Lalwani did a great job and gave Shahrukh an advance. SRK used to say that he has a house because of this film. Shah Rukh said- Money was less so Gauri designed the house. Shahrukh also talked about buying his first house in an old interview. He said, 'I just want to say that the house we bought now (Mannat) was beyond our means. We had to completely refurbish this house. The designer we wanted to work with to remodel this house was too expensive. In such a situation I asked Gauri to design the house. Shahrukh will be seen in the film King with daughter Suhana Shahrukh Khan will be seen in the film 'King' in the coming days. Sujoy Ghosh is directing this film. Shahrukh will share screen space with daughter Suhana Khan and Abhishek Bachchan in this film.
