'Rati Shankar Shukla' who called 'ka kha ga' from enemies: Forced to do engineering, changed fortunes with 'Mirzapur' after doing theater for 25 years

The famous gangster 'Ratishankar Shukla' was seen in the web series 'Mirzapur' released in 2018. If he did not know k, k, g i.e. kakka, he would kill people. This character who appeared in only 4 to 5 episodes is remembered even today. Memes are created based on his dialogues on social media. Perhaps this character won people's hearts because the actor who played him was special. The name of the person playing this character is Shubhrajyoti Barat.

He is known for 'Mirzapur' and 'Tribhuvan Mishra CA Topper', it doesn't mean he is a new actor. He has been doing theater since 1993. There was no intention to appear in films or web shows. A film like Ram Gopal Varma's 'Satya' was also standing at his door, but he didn't even consider it necessary to talk. When he realized that he was running out of money and not getting recognition accordingly, he turned to the industry.

Shubhrajyoti worked with Ayushmann Khurrana in the film 'Article 15'

Born in Kolkata, but lived in Banaras I was born in Kolkata, but never lived there. My father used to work there. We were three siblings. My uncle took me to Banaras. There is a Bengali tola near the Pandey Haveli in Banaras. My house was there. I am saying this because we sold that house. I studied in the famous St. John's School there. Even the smell of cow dung in the streets of Banaras is fragrant to me. I am not able to live, but I want to die in Banaras.

Came to Mumbai after 10th, forced engineering on parents insistence Meanwhile, father was transferred to Mumbai. After 10th I came to Bombay (Mumbai) to join my father. I studied Intermediate in Bombay. After this did engineering. I am still searching for the reason why I did engineering. Maybe I should take Arts instead of Science. I was very keen to learn art, but my parents' ambitions overrode my wishes. They were wondering who would give me a job after taking up Arts.

Got interested in theater after 12th Between 12th standard and admission to engineering, I got involved with theatre. To understand about theater art, I started reading books related to it. Then Nadira joined the theater of Babbar ji (Raj Babbar's first wife). Now my mind was focused there. I used to get praised when I used to do plays etc.

Ram returned after going to Gopal Verma's office I never saw myself as an actor. I used to think theater was my world. I was happy doing theatre. Once the famous writer-director Neeraj Vora gave me the address of Ram Gopal Varma. He said that Ramu is making a film and he is looking for the main lead in it. You meet him for that role. I left home for Ram Gopal Vermaji's office. Reached outside the office, stood for a while and returned.

'Truth' was not found due to lack of confidence I thought why would a director like Ram Gopal Varma cast me as the main lead in his film? Neither my face nor appearance is good. All these emotions were bouncing around in my mind. I returned from there. You won't believe it, but the film Ramuji was looking for an actor for was 'Satya'. Now you might be thinking that I rejected a director like Ram Gopal Varma and a film like Satya, but that's not the case. I didn't believe in myself that I could do this role.

I have self-doubt. I can't do anything even if I want to because it has become a part of my personality. Otherwise, I know very well that doing theater does not support a family. After a certain age, when children grow up, they too have certain desires that need to be fulfilled.

When there was a financial problem, the wife also bumped and the wife also bumped many times. However, he never said why he was doing theatre. Just talked about financial problems. To tell you the truth, I was addicted to theatre, like one is addicted to alcohol. Even an alcoholic knows how much harm alcohol can do. I also felt that I was not making money doing theatre, yet I continued to do it.

Dubbed all night for money Shubhrajyoti also did small roles in serials in the beginning. He said- I got an opportunity to work in a TV serial through someone. During this time I also started dubbing Hindi serials into Bengali. I was paid less for each episode, but I stayed up all night dubbing many episodes.

Got a role in Emraan Hashmi's film, but could hardly act In 2013, Shubhrajyoti played a small role in Emraan Hashmi-Vidya Balan's film 'Ghanchakkar'. There was a total of three nights of shooting. However, those three nights were difficult for Shubhrajyoti. He said- I used to act like a newcomer there. I couldn't act.

Coming home, I asked myself that I have been acting for 20 years, but I can't get a small role as a rule? Then the director of the film, Rajkumar Gupta, explained to me that you should take your time and shoot at your leisure. Later I realized that I still don't take acting seriously.

After doing theater for 25 years, fortune changed with 'Mirzapur' After working in the first season of the series 'Mirzapur' Shubhrajyoti is known to the general public. Casting director Abhishek Banerjee called him and asked him to audition. Appeared in only 5 episodes of the first season, but rose to prominence in the role of 'Rati Shankar Shukla'. Even today, most of the people know him from the character of 'Rati Shankar Shukla'. His famous dialogue in the series – Humko 'Join' Karlo, Tumko 'Aafar' De Rahe The, is still getting memes.

Talking about her character, Subhrajyoti said- I could have played the character of 'Ratishankar Shukla' better because my roots are connected with Banaras. I understand the language and body language of the ancient people.

After 'Mirzapur', 'CA Topper' got a new identity After 'Mirzapur', Shubhrajyoti also gained a lot of popularity in the web series Tribhuvan Mishra CA Topper released this year. Actually, the show is written by Puneet Krishna. Puneet Krishna has also written 'Mirzapur'. Puneeth Krishna loved Subrajyoti's work in 'Mirzapur'. A year before the shooting of Tribhuvan Mishra CA Topper, he approached Shubhrajyoti.

Remembering her father, Shubhrajyoti cried At the end of the interview, Shubrajyoti got a little emotional. We asked if there was any ambition or struggle in his life. In reply he said, father died in 2015. He would have been very happy to see me where I am today. I too would have been very happy to see him. I have no ambition. Just get me a good role in a good one. I can take two steps from the stage I am on. A little bit of money also keeps coming so that I can live my life with dignity.
