A few days after the Hema Committee report came out, Malayalam actor Nivin Pauly was accused of sexual harassment on Tuesday. A 40-year-old woman has filed a complaint against 6 people, including Nivin, at Onnukal Police Station in Ernakulam, Kerala. A woman named Shreya is also included among the accused. Apart from this, the producer names are AK Sunil, Binu, Basheer, Kuttan and Nivin Pauly. Nivin is the sixth accused in the case. The victim alleged that the actor raped her in Dubai. Actor Nivin termed these allegations as completely baseless and false. The woman said- This is the incident of November 2023. According to media reports, the complainant woman came in contact with the accused Shreya for the first time. Shreya offered the woman a job as a caregiver in Europe. When the woman did not work, Shreya asked her for the money back. A few days later, the accused Shreya offered the woman a film. During this time he was drugged and then sexually abused. The woman says that the six accused raped her on separate occasions. All these cases took place in November 2023 in Dubai. The actor said- He will file a defamation case against the complainant. Actor Nivin has released a statement on social media platform X in this regard. He said that I have come across a false news about me, accusing me of exploitation. I want to tell you that this is a complete lie. I will do my best to prove these allegations baseless. After this, Nivin held a press conference and said that he will take legal action in the matter and file a defamation case against the complainant. Actor Siddiqui also accused of rape, wins state film award A Malayali actress has accused actor Siddiqui of rape. After this, Siddiqui resigned as the General Secretary of the Malayalam Movie Artists Association. Siddiqui, who has acted in over 300 Malayalam films, has been honored with the State Film Award. Hema committee report came out on 19th August, AMMA breached on 27th August There have been allegations of sexual exploitation of female actors in the Malayalam film industry for quite some time now. In 2017, a Malayali actress accused 7 people, including actor Dileep, of sexual harassment. Malayalam superstar Dileep was also arrested in this case. Following this, CM Pinarayi Vijayan formed the Hema Committee headed by a former Kerala High Court judge to look into the status of women in the film industry. The 233-page report, submitted to the government in December 2019, revealed exploitation by several big actors. The government released this report after five years on 19 August 2024. The report also accused AMMA members of sexual harassment. Following this, on August 27, 2024, 17 members resigned from their posts, including AMMA president and South superstar Mohanlal. The Malayalam Movie Artistes Association (AMMA) was also dissolved on 27 August. National Commission for Women seeks full report of Hema Committee On August 31, the National Commission for Women (NCW) issued a press release informing that the commission has taken necessary steps to obtain the full report of Hema Committee. The commission also said that considering the seriousness of the matter, it would discuss it with the authorities concerned and take appropriate measures to protect the women.
