My name is Ranveer Shourie. You have seen me in films like 'Khosla Ka Ghosla' (2007), 'Lakshya' (2004) and 'Jism' (2003). Recently I was seen in the reality show Bigg Boss OTT 3. I have been associated with the acting field for almost 25 years. However, I had to struggle every step of the way.' 'In this journey of my career I had a big public scandal. A big film family followed me. The name was thrown around without fail. Due to which a condition like depression was created. Finally I had to leave everything and go to America.' Ranveer Shourie got choked up while saying this. He says, 'I don't know how long I can play this win-lose game. I get tired too, but have to bow to compulsion.' Ranveer comes from a filmy background, but his luck was not like that of star kids like Ranbir Kapoor or Hrithik Roshan. He says, 'Dad K.D. Shourie was a filmmaker, but I never took his help. Actually, my relationship with my father was not good. When I came into films, my father's name did not help me, but only harmed me. People were reluctant to give work knowing the background. In such a situation, it was very difficult to establish one's identity. However, I decided that I would make my own future. Hearing this I asked him, were you born in Mumbai? Ranveer says, 'I was born in Jalandhar, but came to Mumbai at the age of one. I always wanted to go into the creative field because of my father's business.' 'I initially wanted to make music videos. I had no thought of becoming an actor, but fate took such a turn that I first worked as a VJ (Video Jockey) and then took to acting. I have also worked in theater before films.' Why did you decide to get into films? 'Dad's last few films flopped badly. They were thirsty for pie pie, even to the point of having to sell the house. My mother also died at that time, which shook me a lot. All in all, nothing was going well in life.' 'I couldn't even run the household expenses. Seeing this, my friends and family suggested me to get into films. The beginning was very difficult. From 2002-2005, I had neither a proper job nor money to survive. There was not even a penny left in the account.' Have you ever considered leaving the industry when you couldn't find work? 'I felt like doing it, but what could I do given the circumstances. The financial condition of the house was so bad that I had to work. There was no plan B either. I tried my hand at the restaurant business and one or two other jobs for a while, but things just didn't work out. Ultimately acting was the only option left.' So which film changed your destiny? 'Two films released in 2006 'Khosla Ka Ghosla' and 'Pyaar Ke Side Effects' changed my fortune. These two films gave me a new identity overnight. People in the industry started getting to know me, which eased the going for a while.' 'To be honest, after this I didn't have to wander around looking for work. There was definitely a lack of work, but it wasn't like I had to approach filmmakers to ask for work.' You wanted a job in the industry, that's why you joined Bigg Boss? 'This is not entirely true. The rule of the industry is, first you struggle, then you succeed, then you struggle a little more, then you succeed. Thus the cycle continues. After seeing success for a while, there was a shortage of work for me. There were other projects that were not released. Finally I had to enter the Bigg Boss house. 'In the house of Bigg Boss, a small matter is made a big issue. This truth of mine is also exaggerated. The statement in which I had said that I had nothing to do with the trophy but with the prize money was also distorted and presented to the public. The truth is that I said those things in jest. Well, I too have a habit of catching flying arrows.' Before moving on to the next question, let's know about the Ranveer and Pooja Bhatt controversy… Did you get support from the industry when your relationship with Mahesh Bhatt soured? 'Those who supported me in those bad times are still my friends today. There are some friends who walk away from you after a fight. This happened to me too. Meanwhile some friends were left behind. The truth is, whoever has more resources and stronger PR is on top. Well, what else is there? It has been 20-25 years since this incident. I don't want to get involved in this matter anymore. What do you consider the worst time in life? 'The first shock I had was when mother died. Second, when I got divorced from Konkana Sen. This is why I no longer believe in marriage. Talking about the bonding with Konkana, first she was my wife and now she is just the mother of my child. What are your next projects? In the coming days I will be seen in films like 'Hustle', 'Hari Om Hari'. There are web series like 'Jassi Weds Jassi', 'Bidia', which will go on air soon. There are many other projects which I cannot name.
