Rajeev Thakur, known for comedy, recently played the role of a terrorist in the web series 'IC 814: Kandahar Hijack'. After this role, people will now see him not only as a comedian but also in the role of a serious actor. These days he is seen in 'The Great Indian Kapil Show'.
During a conversation with Frontpage Insights, Rajeev said that initially director Anubhav Sinha and the casting team had some doubts whether the audience would accept him in such a serious character. He said, 'When I was called for the audition, the biggest worry was that if people started laughing at my character, the whole series would be ruined. My introduction is at the beginning and if even once people think that I am doing a comedy, the character and the series can be weakened.
Regarding the reaction to the casting in the series, Rajiv said, 'Initially, some people were shocked that this was the same Rajiv Thakur, but as the series progressed, people started taking my character seriously. Anubhav Sahib helped me a lot in understanding the depth of the character. I didn't make any special preparation, but I completely adapted to what he explained. This was a totally new experience for me. There was no room for comedy in this character, and Anubhav sir's guidance helped a lot in playing it.
When asked what kind of roles he is getting after this series. So he said, 'The reactions are very good. Now I want to start getting different types of roles. People have seen my comedy, now they have seen negative characters too. People in the industry will see me in a new role. I am ready to do any kind of role.
About 'The Great Indian Kapil Show', Rajiv said, 'You will see me for more time in the new season of the show. New season, good season and hopefully we will make viewers laugh a lot this time too.
