Paresh Rawal's film 'Story Taylor' has recently been released on a digital platform, in which he is playing the role of storyteller.
Sharing some of the special things connected with the film, Paresh Rawal spoke to Frontpage Insights. He also shared his views on topics such as the shortage of good authors in the industry, OTT platform and Bollywood VS South.
The biggest pleasure is to be part of the best story Paresh Rawal says of the film 'Story Taylor', 'It is a great pleasure to be a part of such a wonderful story. These are the opportunities that come to one's life very little. And it is more fun when you work with good people – such as good director, writers, actors and producers.
It is a matter of pride when I have the opportunity to work on Satyajit Ray's story. I am a great fan of Sir, but I didn't have the opportunity to work with him, but it is very proud of us that he had the opportunity to work in the story he wrote.
Is Bollywood a lack of story tellers? When Paresh Rawal was asked if there was a shortage of story talc in Bollywood because nowadays more attention is being paid to the remake and sequel, he said, 'Yes, definitely. We need better storytellers. There are very few good writers in Bollywood. There was a time when there were big writers like Saleem-Javed, then the trend stopped for a while. Now slowly some new writers are coming, but they still need a lot.
He further said, “If you have no story, there is nothing.” No matter how much brilliant camera work, make a film with beautiful hero-heroin, but if the story is not right, how will the viewers join? Story is the most important thing, and we are very lacking in good writers here.
Will Paresh ever become a writer or director? Paresh Rawal was asked if he would have a chance, would he contribute to the industry by becoming a writer or director. On that, he said, 'I am already a storyteller in the industry. Whatever story I do, becomes my own story. My job is to present it well and I focus full on it.
He accepts, there is no question of being a writer or director, because I love the role I am most. I think the most important thing is to do your work wholeheartedly and properly.
What is your opinion about Ott? Rawal, giving his opinion on the Ott platform, says, 'Ott is good. Ott has died in our industry. Those films have been saved, which, if released in theaters, would not have played the entire show. Ott saved life, rescued his life. In many places, OTT has worked as a bride.
Bollywood Vs South: What is the opinion of the actor?
There is always a debate between Bollywood and South films and never ends. On this, Paresh Rawal says, “Bollywood VS South discussion, I do not understand why he is so raised. Someone may have started it, but it doesn't make sense. In fact, this way of thinking is wrong.
'In India, whatever language is, we consider all films as Indian films. We should learn from each other, why can't we learn from South's films as we learn from Hollywood? If you come from Bollywood, we are great and the people of the South are inferior to the trend is totally wrong.
