The film 'Bombay' released in 1995 was a huge hit. Directed by Mani Ratnam, the film featured Manisha Koirala and Arvind Swamy in lead roles. However, the role was to be given to South star Chian Vikram before Arvind. He also auditioned for the film, although he flatly refused when asked to act in front of a closed camera. Chiyan Vikram was not cast in the film due to this mistake, for which he cried for 2 months. Recently, during a conversation with Siddharth Kanan, Chiyan Vikram was asked if he had rejected Mani Ratnam's film 'Bombay'. To which the actor said, No, I did not leave that film. I had made a mistake. They called me for an audition, but they didn't have a video camera. He only had a steel camera. Then he asked me to act.- Look at the girl, she is running away. But I was frozen. He told me, don't stop, keep going, but I was very confused. He didn't have a camera. There was no video camera, so why should I act? Later I realized that if I had moved a bit they would have gotten a blurry image. After this bad experience, Chiyan Vikram could not get the film, which he regretted a lot. Regarding this he said that it was my dream to work with Mani Ratnam sir. After that film I was ready to retire. I didn't want anything after that film. I was confirmed for that film. Manisha Koirala's shoot was in the morning and mine was in the evening, but I ruined everything. For two months I woke up crying everyday that I had lost the film. A big man cried for two months. The film became a classical film across India. Even though Vikram could not work under the direction of Mani Ratnam in the film 'Bombay' in 1995, he got this opportunity in the year 2010. Vikram directed his film 'Raavan', which was a super hit. After this, he appeared in the Mani Ratnam directed films 'Ponnian Selvan-1' and 'Ponnian Selvan 2'.
