'Loaves baked in Godhra scandal': Threats to make film on issue; Vikrant said – the protesters are not leaving my innocent child

The film is releasing on 15th November – The Sabarmati Report. The film is based on the Godhra incident and the subsequent Gujarat riots. The film is also in controversy after the release of the trailer. The film's lead actor Vikrant Massey is receiving threats. Even her opponents don't give up on her 9-month-old baby. They are talking nonsense about that too.

Vikrant Massey himself has revealed this in an interview given to Frontpage Insights. Vikrant said that many people have baked bread in the Godhrakand fire, but the number of people who have been killed remains only a statistic.

It has been 22 years since the Gujarat riots, but the truth is still not known. Vikrant Massey said that he was aware that the subject of the film was sensitive. He also realized that this can be discussed both positively and negatively. However, the film's producer Ekta Kapoor had full faith in his script.

Vikrant said, 'Ekta gave me a long research paper. I understand that if the research is so solid, there is unlikely to be any controversy. At first I definitely wondered if the film was against a particular religion, class or person. Later, after reading the script, I realized that the film speaks only the truth. Sadly, 22 years have passed, but the issue has not been discussed much.

Not even my 9 month old baby was spared Vikrant said that he is receiving threats for acting in a film based on the Gujarat riots. He said, 'I am getting threatening messages on WhatsApp. I became a father of a son only 9 months ago. He hasn't even learned to walk yet. The opposite is also being said about it. I don't understand what age we are living in. Is art worth suppressing?

Germany's Nazi army killed thousands of Jews. Many films were made on it and it also received awards. Similarly, America dropped the atomic bomb on Japan, making many award-winning films about it. So why do we think so much about making a film on the events that take place here?

I was scared while signing the film, but if not today then when? The film's actress Rashi Khanna said that she was definitely scared when she got the offer for the film. This is because if anything happens, the first bomb explodes on the actors.

Rashi said, someone has to make such films. No one knows the real truth of the Godhra incident yet. Where the fire of this incident started and how it started, we have shown all these things through the film. We were definitely scared when we got the offer for the film. There was fear of something bad happening. It doesn't matter who makes the film, we actors are its face. For this reason, trolling also happens to us the most.

Rashi basically works in Tamil and Telugu films.

The state of journalism today is pathetic, where do I go to find confidence? The entire film is made from a journalistic angle. The story of the film is based on how the journalists of that time presented the Godhra incident. Riddhi Dogra says, 'Journalists these days tell news very casually. I don't know where to go to find faith. All media houses are trying to present themselves. They don't even care to show the news. I am associated with this film to make the audience aware of this situation.

Riddhi Dogra started her career as a TV actress.

English is a global language, but why be ashamed to speak Hindi? The trailer of the film revealed how English journalists underestimated Hindi journalists. Vikrant says, 'People are discriminated on the basis of language. Nawazuddin Siddiqui once said that he was looked at differently because he did not know English. I always say that language is just a medium. I believe that English is a global language. I have no objection to this. The problem is when you hesitate to speak your language.

South people are proud of their language, North India is not Rashi Khanna also spoke about the language barrier. He said, 'I have also worked in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada industries. People there are very proud of their language. Not knowing English is not a big deal there. While in North India, Hinglish (Hindi-English mix) is more commonly used. Here, people who do not know English are given lower rates. I think the way southerners respect their language, why can't we?
