Jitin Gulati in the limelight as 'Desi Ghoda': Says, 'It's a very special feeling, if I get a chance I'd like to do a biopic on Rahul Dravid'

Actor Jitin Gulati left his bank job and came to acting from the modeling world. The actor was selected to play a transgender in the web series 'Kaala' and a gangster in 'Bombay Mary Jaan'. These days, he is in the limelight as a country horse in the Netflix series 'Tribhuvan Mishra CA Topper'. Recently, Jitin Gulati visited Frontpage Insights's Mumbai office. During the conversation, he said that it gives him a very special feeling when people call him a native horse. He also said that he would like to act in Rahul Dravid's biopic if given a chance. Let's find out what else Jitin Gulati had to say during the Q&A session… Now you will be famous as a country horse wherever you go? When people say desi horse, it gives a very special feeling. I have played many characters before. But the kind of talk people are talking about this character. It is a new thing for me. After leaving the bank job, he worked as a part-time professor for some time. After watching this series, many of my students get message that sir, you didn't teach this. People are having fun saying this. I thank the creator of the series for this. Has your look been different from the characters you have played so far? I have done as many characters till date. They all have different looks. It was the first film 'Warning' in which there was a moustache. After which a clean shaven look was seen in 'MS Dhoni: The Untold Story'. Many people know this movie. After that he played various characters in 'Kaala', 'Bombay Meri Jaan', 'Inside Age'. He had either glasses, or a moustache, beard and long hair. Such a role has come after a long time. When you were briefed for the series, what were your feelings about the character? We had never seen this world. Treating a comedy like a thriller was new. Each character was written in great detail. Puneet Krishnaji did thorough research. He explained the entire process. Everything was scripted for me to prepare. Each character also has a different meaning. My character may be a native horse, but if there is a problem, he also turns into a mouse. What was the process of acclimating yourself to the country horse world? The shooting of 'Tribhuvan Mishra CA Topper' and 'Kaala' was going on simultaneously. The shooting of 'Kaala' was in Kolkata and the shooting of Tribhuvan was going on in Noida. I had no problem with the language. I have worked in Noida, I know how the people there pronounce. It was important to me not to appear dramatic when I performed. Puneet Krishna and Amrit Raj Gupta have portrayed the human emotions very finely. Have you met someone like a country horse in real life, when you have done some research on your part? I have not done any research from my side. All my research was done by Puneet sir. Such messages have certainly come after the show. Some people mistake it for a native horse in real life. On the one hand you were doing 'Kaala' which had a different kind of character. A different character in 'Tribhuvan Mishra CA Topper'. How did you transform yourself from one character to another at the same time? As much preparation as possible should be done in advance. Played a transgender role in 'Kaala'. He has a journey. Researched it. When you reach the set, the world of the set takes you inside. No need to change yourself. Everyone from Rama to Ravana is within us. I might even have a serial killer inside me. There was no situation in my life that brought out that feeling. We have many characters within us. There was a different energy and different people on the sets of 'Kaala'. You played such a good character in 'Tribhuvan Mishra CA Topper', what character would you like to play next? Well, I like all kinds of characters. But I would love to do a biopic. I love living a man's life. Something will come that is very different from me. I really feel like doing it. Whose biopic would you like to act in? I want to act in Rahul Dravid's biopic. Tell us about the early stages of your career, what was the reaction of your parents when you told them about the acting profession? I was born in Delhi. My father was in the Navy. He retired early. My mother was a teacher. I was a good student, so I got a job quickly. I never told him about acting. I came to Mumbai from work. Quit after a year and told parents three months after quitting. There was a lot of drama going on in the house that day. One day the father said, do what you want to do. After quitting your bank job, when you got into acting completely, how was the journey? Never in my journey so far has there been an occasion where everything has changed on a Friday. The first film 'Warning' did not do anything special. After that I had no work for a year and a half. I did a part time job and kept looking for a better opportunity. Suddenly I got a job in 'MS Dhoni: The Untold Story'. Has 'MS Dhoni: The Untold Story' created a different identity for you again? Although the role in the film was not big, he got recognition in the character of Dhoni's Banvi. I was excited about the film as it was a Dhoni biopic and I was getting a chance to work under Neeraj Pandey's direction. How do parents react now? They say get married. Very happy now. If I am at this stage today, it is because of their great support. Family support is very important to work in this field.
