I don't regret anything – Hema In an interview given to Lahren Retro in 2023, Hema said about the marriage, “Nobody wants this to happen but sometimes these things happen.” Whatever happens, you have to accept it otherwise no one can live their life like this. Every woman wants to have a husband, children and a normal family. But sometimes it doesn't work out the way you want it to. I have no regrets about this. I am happy with myself. I have two children (Esha Deol and Ahana) whom I have brought up very well.
Love is something in which you become attached to someone During a conversation with Bombay Times, Hema said- 'Love is something in which you get attached to someone. You like someone and your bond with them always grows. Our marriage was not like normal people, maybe that's why I can do everything today.'
He went on to say – 'If my marriage had been done according to tradition, I think I would have been nothing. Whatever I am doing today – movies, dance, going to different places, politics. How could it have happened if my marriage had been done in a traditional way?'

Prakash Kaur is Dharmendra's first wife Dharmendra had an arranged marriage with Prakash Kaur in 1954 at the age of 19. The couple had four children, Ajay Singh (Sunny), Vijay Singh (Bobby), Vareeder and Ajeeta Deol. When Dharmendra told Prakash about his second marriage to Hema, he refused to divorce the actor. After this Dharmendra converted to Islam and made Hema his second wife.
