Sometimes his songs reach more hearts than movies. Any film feels incomplete without songs. The emotions of the scenes can be captured better through songs.
It is not only the singing of the singer that makes a song its final form, but the most important role is played by the director and music composer of the film. The composer is responsible for creating the tune of the song and the director is responsible for finalizing it.
In this episode of Reel to Real we will understand the process of making songs. For this we spoke to lyricist Kumar, composer Aman Pant, veteran musician Lalit Pandit and singer Udit Narayan.
He said that sometimes big actors also participate in the production of songs along with the director. Shah Rukh Khan himself finalized a song from the film 'Jawaan'. At the same time, sometimes some singers are not ready to lend their voice to a particular song. When Lata Mangeshkar was not ready to sing the title song of Amitabh Bachchan's film 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gum', composer Lalit Pandit had to convince her.
Story- 1- Lata Didi was not ready to sing the title song of the movie 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gum'. Lalit Pandit has worked with Swar Kokila Lata Mangeshkar. He said, 'We had a family relationship with Lataji. My father used to learn music from his brother Hridaynathji. However, I was scared when I first met them.
There was an incident where I asked him to sing the title song of Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan's film 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gum', but he refused saying that he does not sing only one song.
I insisted on telling them that if you don't sing it, there's no one else who can. After much persuasion, he listened to the tune and lent his voice to the song.
Story- 2- Salman created a new antara for himself in the song Munni Badnaam. Lalit Pandit composed the song 'Munni Badnam' from the film Dabangg. He also wrote songs. Narrating the story of this film, he said – I composed this song long ago. A big film was awaited in which this song could be filmed.
I have an old friendship with Arbaaz Khan. One day we met. I invited him to my house to listen to songs. He came and I played the songs for him. Then he said that he is making a film for which he needs a unique song. Then I played him 'Munni Badnaam Geet'. Arbaaz liked this song very much.
I wanted this song to be filmed on Salman Khan and Malaika Arora. That's what eventually happened. Salman himself requested me to cast Antara for his part, as initially the item song was to be shot on only one actress.
Story- 3- Shah Rukh Khan was angry on the shoot of a song Shah Rukh Khan worked with Juhi Chawla in the film 'Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani'. During the shooting of the song 'Banke Tera Jogi' of this film, Shah Rukh got very angry. Narrating this incident, Lalit said, 'After hearing the lyrics of this song, Shahrukh asked to change his words. He was not sure about this song. This was the first time he had said something like that. The film's producer Juhi also asked to change the songs.
When I asked writer Javed Akhtar Sahab to change the song, he refused. Eventually the song had to be recorded with the same lyrics. Later, when Shahrukh heard this song during the shoot, he got angry again. He called me and got very angry. Jatin and I reached Mehboob Studio to meet him. However, before we arrived, choreographer Farah Khan praised the song so much that Shah Rukh agreed to shoot it based on her feedback. He also apologized to us.
Story- 4- Salman is interested in singing, Aamir recorded the final song in an hour and a half. Apart from acting and directing, many actors are also interested in singing. The name of Salman Khan and Shahrukh Khan is also included in this list. Lalit Pandit says – Salman used to sit a lot in the singing session. He is very fond of singing. We suggested that Aamir Khan sing 'Aati Kya Khandala' for the film Ghulam.
Aamir came every night to practice this song for almost a month. He did the final recording in just one and a half hours.
Udit Narayan said – Music is missing in today's Hindi songs. The songs and style of films have changed a lot compared to earlier. Singer Udit Narayan said about this – The style of songs has changed a lot. New creations are very rare these days. Remixes of old songs are being made. Music is very important in Hindi films, which is missing a bit now.
