Dharmendra didn't like Esha appearing in films: The actress said, 'Dad wanted me to get married at the age of 18 and settle down'

Bollywood actress Esha Deol has said that her father Dharmendra was not happy with her decision to enter films. He wanted Esha to get married and settle down by the age of 18. Esha had to convince him a lot to get into films. In an interview, Esha said that Dad was a little old fashioned. He wanted me to get married at an early age and start my own family. They didn't want me to work in films. He was like a typical Punjabi father. He comes from a place where he saw women growing up in homes where girls were married off at an early age. But I was not brought up like that. Esha further said that mother Hema Malini played a big role in my upbringing, which got me interested in acting. However, I had to make a lot of efforts to convince my father that I wanted to work in films. This was not easy at all. Esha also talked about the strict environment in the house in the interview. He said, My grandmother was very strict. They did not allow us to wear short skirts etc. We were not allowed to go anywhere even late at night. Debuted in 2002 Esha made her Bollywood debut in 2002 with the film 'Koi Mere Dil Se' Pokhe. Esha's last film in Bollywood was 2011's Tell Me O Khuda. After her marriage in 2012, she took a break from work, but now she has made a comeback.
