Controversy ahead of 'Border 2' launch: Financier Bharat Shah issues notice, calls himself controller of film's world rights

Sunny Deol's upcoming film 'Border 2' has come into controversy even before its launch. The film is a sequel to the 1997 release 'Border'. Now Bharat Shah, the film financier and distributor associated with that film, has issued a public notice to the makers of 'Border 2'. A court case is going on regarding the first part of the film. There were differences between Bharat Shah and JP Through this notice, lawyer Ajay Khatlawala and partner at Little & Company said that his clients Bharat Shah and Bina Bharat Shah are the controllers of the world rights of the film 'Border'. He signed an agreement with the film's director and producer JP Dutta to finance the war film. But differences arose between the two parties. However, it was earlier decided that the film's revenue would be split in half. Not only this, JP Dutta also had to inform Bharat Shah about the money spent on the film. In 2014, the Bombay High Court was also approached. The notice stated that JP Dutta never gave any information to Bharat Shah and Bina Bharat Shah and also did not provide information about the financial status and profits of the film. In such a situation, Bharat Shah and Bina Bharat Shah have filed a complaint against JP Dutta in the Indian Film and TV Producers Council. Earlier in 2014, he had also approached the Bombay High Court. The case has now been transferred to the Civil Court. Sunny Deol and JP Dutta, who will be seen alongside Sunny, Varun and Diljit, recently announced 'Border 2', the sequel to the 1997 film 'Border'. Ayushmann Khurrana was to be seen opposite Sunny in this film but now Varun Dhawan has replaced him. Released on 23 January 2026, the film will also feature Sunny and Varun and Diljit Dosanjh. The makers are busy preparing to start the shooting of this film soon. It will release in theaters on January 23, 2026. It is jointly produced by Gulshan Kumar, T-Series and JP Dutta.
