Bollywood saddened by Zakir Hussain's death: From Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar to Kareena Kapoor Khan, these stars pay tribute

The demise of Indian music icon tabla player and maestro Zakir Hussain has sent a wave of mourning across the country. Many Bollywood stars have also paid tribute to Zakir Hussain's death. From Amitabh Bachchan to Kareena Kapoor, many B-town stars have mourned Zakir's demise and paid tributes.

These celebs paid tribute Amitabh Bachchan shared a post on Zakir Hussain. Kareena Kapoor Khan shared a photo with Zakir Hussain on Instagram, in which Zakir Hussain is seen with Kareena's father and veteran actor Randhir Kapoor. While sharing the photo, he wrote- 'Forever Master'. Malaika Arora also shared a picture of the tabla player and wrote – 'Rest in peace legend.'

Akshay Kumar-Anupam Kher also paid tribute Paying tribute to Zakir Hussain, Akshay Kumar wrote – 'Deeply saddened to learn of the sad demise of Ustad Zakir Hussain Saab. He was truly a treasure of our country's musical heritage. Om Shanti.'

Anupam Kher wrote – Who knows how many days the heart will be sad now! The sound will remain silent for who knows how many days!! Goodbye my friend. You left this world! Will be remembered for centuries! You too… your talent too… and your childlike smile that touches hearts!!' Ranveer Singh, Sonali Bendre, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni and other stars have also paid tribute to the late tabla player.

The youngest Padma Shri

Zakir Hussain was awarded the Padma Shri in 1988 at the youngest age (37 years). Also, Pandit Ravi Shankar addressed Zakir as Ustad for the first time. The streak did not stop after this. A Sangeet Nataka Academy Award in 1990, Zakir's co-created album Planet Drum was awarded a Grammy Award in 1992. These recordings combined Hindustani taal vidya with foreign tal vidya, which was rare at the time.
