I feel privileged and fortunate to have served as a Member of Parliament and Minister of State for Tourism during the tenure of a legendary leader like him. I will always remember my conversations with him and the inspiration and knowledge I received from him. This is a great loss for our country. Sunny Deol wrote, I am deeply saddened by the demise of Dr. Manmohan Singh, a visionary leader who played an important role in shaping India's economic liberalization. His intelligence, devotion and contribution to the development of the nation will always be remembered.
Sanjay Dutt wrote, Dr. I am deeply saddened by the demise of Manmohan Singh Ji. His contribution to India will never be forgotten.
Swara Bhaskar wrote for Manmohan Singh, I remember when Manmohan Singh came to JNU. I was a student. I think Singu Nandigram happened at that time or maybe it was an anti-Naxal operation in Chhattisgarh. There was talk of protest on campus. There was a lot of security, but leftist student organizations AISU, DSU hung black flags in the campus and tried to stop the Prime Minister's speech by shouting slogans and showing black flags and succeeded. Those students were immediately removed and given expulsion notices.
Swara continued, “We heard a few days later that the PMO had called the Vice Chancellor and said – the students should not be expelled, as it is their democratic right to protest.” What a contrast in today's Indian politics, leadership and political climate. This is proof of why Manmohan Singh was a great Prime Minister.
