TV actress Srijita Dey and her husband Michael Blohm are going to have a traditional Bengali wedding in Goa on November 10. This marriage is taking place after a year and a half of their marriage according to German customs. Talking to Frontpage Insights, Srujitha spoke about her wedding preparations and excitement.
Why did you think of getting married in Goa according to Bengali customs after getting married according to German customs? About this Srijeeta said, 'Actually, we thought of this in the beginning when we did the white wedding. At that point we knew we would marry from both cultures. We were very clear that we did not want to do a fusion.
Srijita further said, 'I love German tradition and culture. At the same time, I love the Bengali way of being a bride, like the crown we wear. This was my dream since childhood. So Michael said, let's not do fusion and we should give both cultures a chance. We had planned a Bengali wedding in Goa in November last year. But due to work and commitments, this marriage kept getting postponed. Now all the family members can come this November. Michael's family is visiting from Canada and friends from Germany. Now everyone's schedule has been finalized, so the wedding is set for November 2024. We respect both traditions. That's why we decided to get married a second time.
Why choose Goa for marriage? The actress said, 'We love Goa very much. Goa has become very special to us since we were stuck there during the lockdown. We stayed there for seven months and we loved each other's company. Staying in Goa during the lockdown was very special. Every year we go there at least three-four times. That place is very special to us.
Wedding functions Srijita and Michael's wedding function will last for two days. All guests will arrive on the morning of November 9th and will be welcomed. After this, there will be lunch and mehendi program, which will last for 2-3 hours. A musical program will be held at 7:00 pm. On November 10th there will be Haldi in the morning, followed by the wedding ceremony at 4:00 pm followed by the reception. Everyone will go back the next day.
Guest list The couple has made a guest list of around 50-55 people. Srijeeta said, 'We all want to enjoy this function to the fullest. Usually everyone has fun in a wedding except the bride and groom. We want close friends and family to be with us. Some people won't be able to come, and since it's a destination wedding, we didn't want a crowd. Special friends include Rashmi Desai, Ishita Ganguly, Shiv Thackeray, Aashka Goradia with her husband and Ankit Tiwari.
