Oscar winning singer and music composer AR Rahman has been making headlines for the past few days after announcing his divorce. After the divorce, the singer's name was being linked with his guitarist Mohini Dey, as the two announced their divorce on the same day. Amid the link-up news, Mohini Dey has now called AR Rahman her father. He also said that he is only a few years younger than his father. Mohini has also demanded privacy.
On 20 November, the day AR Rahman announced the divorce, his co-star Mohini Dey also announced the divorce. Since then, Mohini Dey's name was being associated with AR Rahman and was being considered as the reason for the divorce. AR Rahman has decided to take legal action in this matter, while now Mohini has also presented her explanation on this issue.
Mohini Dey has recently come clean about her relationship with AR Rahman through a video. He has said that the singer is like his father. Mohini has shared a video and said, I was on tour for some time. I want to come here and tell you all that I have many father figures and role models in my life. I am very grateful that he has played an important role in my life. AR is one of them.
He continued, I respect him a lot, he is like a father to me. He is little younger than my father. Her daughter is the same age as me. We both have love and respect for each other. I worked as a guitarist in his band for the last eight and a half years. For the last 5 years I have been working with other pop artists in the UK. I also have my own band. Please respect our privacy. This is a personal matter and it is very painful.
Along with this video, Mohini wrote, “Unbelievable to see the false information, rumors and claims being spread about me and AR Rahman. It seems that the media has vulgarized both incidents. It is disheartening to see that people have no empathy or respect for such emotional matters. It hurts to see people's thoughts. AR Rahman is a legend and he is like a father to me.
AR Rahman announced his divorce from wife Saira Banu on 20 November. On the same day, Mohini also announced her divorce from husband Mark Hartsch. After this, Mohini was told the reason behind AR Rahman's divorce. Seeing the growing controversy, AR Rahman warned the rumor mongers that he would take legal action if news related to him was not removed.
