Mukesh Khanna recently appeared on his YouTube channel 'Shaktiman Returns', in which he also sang a song for the first time. While on one hand some people are trolling him, on the other hand some people are seeing him as a preparation for his film 'Shaktiman'.
Talking to Frontpage Insights, Mukesh Khanna also revealed a lot about the film 'Shaktiman'. Let's know what Mukesh Khanna had to say about 'Shaktiman Returns' in an interview.
You sang for the first time in 'Shaktiman Returns', how was the experience? I was a bathroom singer. Talat Mahmood Sahib was my favorite. I have no intention of becoming a singer, but I must say that I have replaced Shaan and Javed Ali in this song. No one will say that I sang unsatisfactorily.
What was the singing process like, tell us something about it? It took 6 months to make this song. Earlier he was going to do 'Aao Bachho Tumhe Dikhaye Zanki Hindustan Ki'. A video was also shot, but I felt that today's kids see everything on Google. Apart from this, there was also a problem regarding the rights of the songs.
What was the problem with the song rights? 'Ao Bachho Tumhe Dikhaye Zanki Hindustan Ki' is a song from the movie 'Jagruti', its rights are owned by Saregama. When we talked to him about the rights of the song, he said that 70 percent of the profit will be his share and 30 percent will be ours. I didn't like his deal. We thought of working on some original songs. When lyricist Deepak Tripathi wrote 'Katha Azadi Ke Veero Ki', I felt that I too can sing this song. If Amitabh Bachchan Sahib can sing 'Aao Bachho Tumhe Sher Ki Kahani Sunate Hai' then why can't I.
What are your ambitions for the film Shaktiman, in what form do you want to see the film? Everyone wants their TV show to be made into a movie, but I haven't approached anyone to make a movie. Even today, if I get permission from Doordarshan or any other channel, I can make 1000 episodes on Shaktimaan. Sony people who have made many films like 'Spider-Man' came to make the film themselves. I wrote in the contract with him that you will not change the seven ideals of Shaktiman. The start of the film is getting delayed as everyone knows that I am stuck on casting.
What is the problem with casting? For Shaktiman, I wanted an actor who has a light face. He should have the qualities of a teacher. I once joked that what can Tiger Shroff teach children? Children themselves will say sit with me. Ranveer Singh sat with me for three hours, but I did not find Shaktiman in him. I believe that the person who played the role of Alauddin Khilji, how can he be Shaktiman? Shaktiman is a character on the level of Shriram and Shrikrishna. Shaktiman does not necessarily become a big star. There is no dearth of talent in our country, I wish Shaktiman's auditions are held all over the country.
