Actress Parvathy calls resignation of AMMA members an act of cowardice: Says, 'When it came time to answer, everyone ran away, blaming the government too'

Malayalam actress Parvathy Thiruvothu of film 'Karib Karib Single' fame has given her statement regarding the disbandment of the Malayalam Movie-Artists Association (AMMA). The actress called it a cowardly act and said that the film association has a dictatorial rule. He also said that at one point he too had resigned from this association because people were not allowed to speak there. Last Tuesday, 17 members, including AMMA president and southern superstar Mohanlal, resigned from their posts. The decision to dissolve the association was taken after the Hema Committee report came out. Three members of AMMA, actors Siddiqui and Baburaj and director Ranjith, were accused of sexual harassment, after which a case was registered against them. He resigned when he had to answer: In an interview to Parvathy Barkha Dutt, the actress said, 'After hearing the news of the resignation of 17 members of the association, the first thing that came to my mind was what a cowardly act this is. All these members resigned from the post as they had to answer several questions to the media. “They welcomed the main accused,” the actress added, adding, “It would have been better if they had at least worked with the government to sort out the matter, but this is the same executive committee that once welcomed the main accused (actor Dileep) in the sexual harassment case.” had done.' Talking about 'no one's attention to our careers and mental health issues', Parvathy called the government too careless. The actress said, 'The government is also making very irresponsible statements. She is saying that if women have complaints, they should come forward by lodging an FIR. Is it only women's responsibility to do everything? After all this, will you take responsibility to bring us justice? You talk to us about coming out openly… no one cares about our careers, lives and mental health issues. I myself have been a part of AMMA: Actress Parvathy also revealed that she too was once a part of this association. Parvati said, 'This is not surprising to me. I myself have been part of AMMA and seen how they work. I gladly resigned at that moment. The report of the Hema Committee came out on August 19. These days there is a lot of turmoil in the Malayalam film industry. On August 19, the Justice Hema Committee handed over a 233-page report to the Kerala government, which brought to light the exploitation by several big actors. Since then, many famous actresses have accused prominent actors and filmmakers of sexual harassment, rape and sexual exploitation.
