Malayalam actor Jayasuriya was questioned by the Kerala Police on Tuesday. He denied all allegations of sexual harassment leveled against him. During interrogation, Jayasuriya said – I completely deny the allegations. These are fabricated stories. I don't even need advance bail.
He further said – It is worrying that people are making such false accusations against someone. At least I have a platform to present my side. Many people do not do this. This can create turmoil in many families. I have become a living martyr
According to a Manorama report, the Kerala police questioned the actor in connection with a rape case filed by a female co-actor. The actor was called to the cantonment police station in Thiruvananthapuram at 10 am.
Jayasuriya said- I will fight the case to save myself In a Matrubhoomi report, the actor was quoted as saying – I am facing two false charges. In many places a woman is saying that this is me. But later he has denied this many times. I will fight the case legally until the charges against me are proven false.
This is the second sexual harassment case registered against Jayasuriya by the Kerala Police. During 2012-13 he was accused of molestation by a female co-star on the sets of a film near Kerala. Following the complaint, the Kerala government also formed a seven-member team to investigate the claims. A complaint under section 354, 354C has been registered against Jayasuriya.
After the Hema Committee report, many actresses leveled serious allegations against the actors. There have been allegations of sexual exploitation of female actors in the Malayalam film industry for quite some time now. A 3-member committee headed by retired Justice Hema was constituted in 2019 to investigate this. After 4 years, on 19 August, the Hema committee handed over a 233-page report to the Kerala government, which exposed exploitation by several big actors.
Ever since the Justice Hema Committee report came out, actresses in the Malayalam film industry have been constantly accusing many big actors and filmmakers.
