Aamir's 'Lapata Ladies' nominated for Oscars: Official entry in foreign film category, Ranbir and Vicky films also in the running

The film 'Missing Ladies' has received an official entry from India in Oscars 2025. The film has been sent to the foreign film category. The film is directed by Kiran Rao under the banner of Aamir Khan's production house.

Film Federation of India Selection Committee Chairman Jahnu Barua made this announcement on Monday. This year, 29 films from across the country were in the race to be sent to the Oscars, including Vicky Kaushal's 'Sam Bahadur', Ranbir Kapoor's 'Animal' and Kartik Aaryan's 'Chandu Champion'. A 13-member jury selected 'Missing Ladies' from these 29 films.

The final nominations for the 97th Oscars will be announced on January 17, 2025. The Oscars will be held on March 2, 2025.

Film Federation of India informed about the selection of this film.

A total of 29 films in the race to become India's official entry for the 'Best Foreign Film' category at the Oscars this time include the Deepika-Prabhas starrer 'Good Luck', the gory Hindi film 'Kill', Rajkumar Rao's 'Shrikanth', Ajay Devgan starrer. Hindi films like 'Maidan', Yami Gautham's 'Article 370', Randeep Hooda starrer 'Swatantrya Veer Savarkar', Manoj Bajpayee's 'Joram' etc. were included.

Other Indian language films include Vijay Sethupathi starrer 'Maharaja', Telugu film 'Hanu-Maan', Malayalam drama film 'Attam', Prithviraj Sukumaran's critically acclaimed Malayalam film 'Adujivitham: The Got Life', Malayalam which won the 'Grand Prix' award at the Cannes Film Festival. Marathi films like 'All We Imagine as Light', 'Gharat Ganapati', 'Swargandharva Sudhir Phadke' and 'Ghat' were also included.

The movie 'Lapata Ladies' was released on March 1. The film 'Lapata Ladies' was released in theaters on March 1 this year. The film was directed by Aamir's second ex-wife Kiran Rao. Despite having a lifetime collection of Rs 25 crore at the box office, the film was well received by both critics and audiences.

What is the story of the film? The story of the film starts from the rural area. The wedding season is going on in the village. Two young men board a train with their brides. Both brides have veils on their faces, so that their faces are not visible. After the journey is over, both the brides get down and disappear somewhere. A young man 'Deepak' accidentally brings another girl 'Pushpa' to his house. His real wife 'Phoul' lives at the station. If the bride was not wearing a veil, she might not have changed. The film has been written based on this mindset of keeping women in the loop.
