70th National Film Awards ceremony held: Mansi Parekh wins first National Award for Kutch Express, breaks down in tears on stage

The 70th National Award ceremony was organized today at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi. President Draupadi Murmu presented awards and honors to all the winners at the function. Mithun Chakraborty was honored with the film industry's most prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award this year. He arrived to receive the award with a plaster in hand. His name was announced after a memorable glimpse of the film was shown.

President Draupadi Murmu welcomed him with a shawl and then felicitated him. Mithun Chakraborty was given a standing ovation at Vigyan Bhawan for his contribution.

Mansi Parekh won the award for Best Actress in a Leading Role and Best Feature Film Promoting National, Social, Environmental Values ​​for the film Kutch Express.

Mithun Chakraborty received the Dadasaheb Phalke Award.

Neena Gupta won the National Award for Best Co-Actor for Utcha.

Vikram Duggal arrived to receive the National Award for Best Hindi Film for Gulmahor.

Screen play writer Rahul V. Chittela won the National Award for Best Screen Play for Gulmohar.

The film Gulmahor received a special mention at the National Award ceremony, Manoj Bajpayee came to receive the award.

On winning the award, Mithun Da said – God returned the fruits of all the hardships endured with interest.

Rishabh Shetty's film Kantara has won the Best Popular Film award.

At the award ceremony held on 2 May 1988, his son Raj Kapoor came to receive the award in his stead. At that time, Raj Kapoor was so ill that he sat in the ceremony wearing an oxygen mask, carrying an oxygen-cylinder with him. When Prithviraj Kapoor's name was announced, Raj Kapoor's health deteriorated to such an extent that he could not stand up from his chair. In such a situation President R. Venkataraman broke the protocol of the ceremony and personally went to his chair to present the award.
