After the death of Ratan Tata, the command of the group's largest stakeholder 'Tata Trust' has been handed over to step brother Noel Tata. Noel's name was agreed upon in the meeting held in Mumbai on Friday.
Noel Tata was a strong contender to carry on the Tata legacy due to his family connections and involvement in several of the group's companies. Noel Tata is already a trustee of Sir Dorabji Tata Trust and Sir Ratan Tata Trust.
Noel is the chairman of Tata Group company Trent and Voltas.
Naval and Simon Tata's son, Noel Trent, is chairman of Voltas, Tata Investments and Tata International. He is also the Vice Chairman of Tata Steel and Titan.
Tata Trust has 66% stake in the group with revenue of ₹13.8 lakh crore.
The importance and size of Tata Trust can be understood in this way that it is a group of charitable institutions of Tata Group, which holds 66% stake in Tata Group with a revenue of Rs 13 lakh crore. Under this, Sir Dorabji Tata Trust and Sir Ratan Tata Trust own 52% stake of Tata Sons.
